6. Treatment of malignant tumors with histamine. Clinical and experimental studies
Abstract : For metastatic melanoma there is no treatment to prolong life. Histamine has in experimental tumors shown tumor inhibiting effects. In vitro, histamine inhibit phagocyte-derived radical oxygen species to protect natural killer and cytotoxic T-lymphocytes. READ MORE

7. Cell signalling in cancer. A functional and immunochemical investigation of purinergic, adrenergic, nitrergic, and prostaglandin mediated signalling mechanisms in experimental and human cancer
Abstract : Disturbed cell signalling is a hallmark of the cancer cell, being one important mechanismbehind uncontrolled cell growth. In the current study, we have investigated cancer cellsignalling with the focus on some first messenger and/or their receptors, in the murine celllines, MCG 101, and K1735-M2, and the human colon cancer cell line, HT-29. 8. Photodynamic therapy in the head and neck
Abstract : Photodynamic therapy, PDT, is a method to diagnose and treat cancer. In PDT a sensitizer is administered to the patient and this sensitizer is accumulated in tumors. If the sensitizer-containing tumor is subjected to a laser of a specific wavelength the tumor is fluorescing allowing diagnostics. READ MORE

9. Hormonal regulation of liver and tumor growth
Abstract : The aims of this thesis were to investigate the regulatory functions of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a) on liver growth, and the importance of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and the HGF receptor (Met) for growth of mesenchyme-derived tumors. The studies on different types of liver growth, measured as weight, DNA and protein content, and DNA synthesis, were performed on mice lacking the IL-6 or the TNF receptor-1 gene back-crossed to the C57bl/6 strain. 10. Clinical and Biological Patterns in Soft Tissue Sarcoma
Abstract : Soft tissue sarcomas (STSs) are rare malignant tumors, of which 3/4 are high-grade and 1/3 metastasize. For optimal management, STSs should be treated at multidisciplinary sarcoma centers. READ MORE
