  1. 6. Droplet Microfluidics reverse transcription and PCR towards Single Cell and Exosome Analysis

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Lovisa Söderberg; KTH.; [2017]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Droplet microfluidics; Reverse transcription; Droplet PCR; High Throughput biology; Single cell Analysis; Exosomes; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Abstract : Miniaturization of biological analysis is a trend in the field of biotechnology aiming to increase resolution and sensitivity in biological assays. Decreasing the reaction volumes to analyze fewer analytes in each reaction vessel enables the detection of rare analytes in a vast background of more common variants. READ MORE

  2. 7. Bioprocess development for biochemical conversion of lignocellulose

    University dissertation from ; Chalmers tekniska högskola; Gothenburg

    Author : Ruifei Wang; [2017]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lignocellulose; strain engineering; stress tolerance; kinetic modelling; high gravity; scale-up; biofuels; SSCF; process development; Saccharomyces cerevisiae;

    Abstract : Due to its low environmental impact and high maturity of the fuel ethanol market, lignocellulosic ethanol is a promising option for reducing the carbon footprint in the transport sector. The characteristics of lignocellulosic feedstocks, such as varied sugar composition, low sugar density, low solubility, recalcitrance to enzymatic degradation, and inhibitors formed during thermochemical pretreatment, have so far limited the production process, and costs for conversion of lignocellulosic materials to ethanol are still high. 3. 8. Nanostructured Bulk Thermoelectrics Scalable Fabrication Routes, Processing and Evaluation

    University dissertation from Stockholm, Sweden : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Mohsen Yakhshi Tafti; KTH.; [2016]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Thermoelectric; Iron antimonide FeSb2 Skutterudite; Copper Selenide Cu2Se ; Spark Plasma Sintering SPS ; nanomaterial; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Abstract : Current fossil fuel based energy sources have a huge shortcoming when one discusses their efficiency. The conversion efficiency of fossil fuel-based technologies is less than 40% in best cases. READ MORE

  4. 9. Millimeter-wave Networking Fundamental Limits, Scalable Algorithms, and Design Insights

    University dissertation from KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Hossein Shokri-Ghadikolaei; KTH.; KTH.; [2017]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : The current demands for extremely high data rate wireless services and the spectrum scarcity at the sub-6 GHz bands are forcefully motivating the use of the millimeter-wave (mmWave) frequencies. The main characteristics of mmWave communications are severe attenuation, sparse-scattering environment, huge bandwidth, vulnerability to obstacles and antenna misalignment, massive beamforming, and possible noise-limited operation.
