  1. 21. Exploring low-carbon development pathways for Bolivia - A model-based analysis focused on the energy sector

    Author : Jenny Gabriela Peña Balderrama; Viktoria Martin; Mark I. Howells; Dilip Khatiwada; Francesco Gardumi; Pachauri Shonali; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Decarbonization; Sustainability; Techno-economic analysis; Bolivia; Energy access; Energy security; Systems analysis; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Global emissions have continued to rise steadily at levels exceeding the 1.5°C climate stabilization target. Therefore, the increase in the average global temperature and climate change will be determined by how we handle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions over the next years. READ MORE

  2. 22. Thermodynamic analysis of Stirling engine systems : Applications for combined heat and power

    Author : Joseph Adhemar Araoz Ramos; Torsten Fransson; Carlos Augusto Santos Silva; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stirling engine; Thermodynamic analysis; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Abstract : Increasing energy demands and environmental problems require innovative systems for electrical and thermal energy production. In this scenario, the development of small scale energy systems has become an interesting alternative to the conventional large scale centralized plants. READ MORE

  3. 23. Methods for Processing and Analysis of Biomedical TEM Images

    Author : Amit Suveer; Ida-Maria Sintorn; Carolina Wählby; Natasa Sladoje; Jari Hyttinen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; image analysis; image processing; deep learning; transmission electron microscopy; denoising; super-resolution reconstruction; registration; detection; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Abstract : Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) has the high resolving capability and high clinical significance; however, the current manual diagnostic procedure using TEM is complicated and time-consuming, requiring rarely available expertise for analyzing TEM images of the biological specimen. This thesis addresses the bottlenecks of TEM-based analysis by proposing image analysis methods to automate and improve critical time-consuming steps of currently manual diagnostic procedures. 4. 24. Agriculture, climate change, and adaptation in Morocco : A computable general equilibrium analysis

    Author : Ismail Ouraich; Purdue University; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Abstract : The empirical analysis in this dissertation comprises two essays investigating the impacts of climate change on agriculture in Morocco, with an emphasis on climate uncertainty and robust adaptation.^ The first essay in Chapter 4 provides estimates of economic impacts of climate change, and estimates on the extent to which the current Moroccan agricultural development and investment strategy, the Plan Maroc Vert (PMV), could help in agricultural adaptation to climate change and uncertainty. 5. 25. Value of Information Analysis for Site Investigations in Remediation Projects

    Author : Pär-Erik Back; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; uncertainty; value of information; soil; decision analysis; sampling; remediation; contaminated land; site investigation;

    Abstract : Site investigations of contaminated land are associated with high costs. From a societal point of view, just enough economic resources should be spent to allow societys limited resources to be allocated optimally to sustainable development. READ MORE
