  1. 1. Image Reconstruction and Optical Flow Estimation on Image Sequences with Differently Exposed Frames

    Author : Tomas Bengtsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multiple camera settings; human visual system; super-resolution; optical flow; high dynamic range; digital camera system; image reconstruction; motion analysis; inverse problem;

    Abstract : The main objective for digital image- and video camera systems is to reproduce a real-world scene in such a way that a high visual quality is obtained. A crucial aspect in this regard is, naturally, the quality of the hardware components of the camera device. There are, however, always some undesired limitations imposed by the sensor of the camera. 2. 2. DNA Analysis of PCR-Inhibitory Forensic Samples

    Author : Johannes Hedman; Teknisk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; amylase; statistical modelling; principal components analysis; PCR inhibitors; PCR inhibition; forensic DNA analysis; DNA polymerase blend; DNA polymerase; crime scene samples;

    Abstract : DNA evidence, linking perpetrators to crime scenes, is central to many legal proceedings. However, crime scene samples often contain extraneous substances that may interfere with the PCR-based forensic analysis, resulting in partial or negative DNA profiles. Extensive DNA purification may remove inhibitors, but involves the risk of DNA loss. READ MORE

  3. 3. The Making of Resistance : Brazil’s Landless Movement and Narrative Enactment

    Author : Markus Lundström; Paulina de los Reyes; Fredrik Uggla; Stellan Vinthagen; Stockholms universitet; []

    Abstract : This dissertation explores the story of Brazil’s Landless Movement: its historiographical prequel, its narrative components, its modifications, its enactment. The study derives from a non-essentialist understanding of the resistance agent, here construed as political subject – a collective of individuals, contingently unified in a specific political struggle, not necessarily representing a mutual material need, nor a common identity. 4. 4. Real-time Locating Systems for indoor applications : the methodological customization approach

    Author : Bartosz Jachimczyk; Wlodek Kulesza; Alfonso Bahillo Martínez; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Accuracy and Precision; Angle of Arrival; Fingerprinting Method; Indoor Localization; Indoor Positioning System; Multi-Sensor System; Neural Network; Radio Frequency Identification - RFID; Real Time Locating System; Received Signal Strength; RFID Network Planning; Scene Analysis; Sensors Arrangement; System Customization; Uncertainty; Uncertainty Map; User Driven Design;

    Abstract : Emerging wireless technologies increase the potential and effectiveness of wireless Real-time Locating Systems (RTLSs), which precisely localize the position, and identify things and people in real time. Among many applications, RTLSs are widely used in the industrial sector for indoor logistics and safety applications. READ MORE

  5. 5. Picture Viewing and Picture Description: Two Windows on the Mind

    Author : Jana Holsanova; Kognitionsvetenskap; []

    Abstract : In this thesis, I connect two disciplines, linguistics and vision research, and combine two methods, spoken language protocols and eye movement protocols, in order to cast light on the underlying cognitive processes. In a series of studies, I investigate the processual aspects of picture viewing and picture description. READ MORE
