  1. 21. Forecasting of Icing Related Wind Energy Production Losses : Probabilistic and Machine Learning Approaches

    Author : Jennie Molinder; Anna Sjöblom; Heiner Körnich; Hans Bergström; Erik Nilsson; Sue Ellen Haupt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Wind energy; Icing on wind turbines; Machine learning; Probabilistic forecasting; Meteorologi; Meteorology;

    Abstract : Icing on wind turbine blades causes significant production losses for wind energy in cold climate. Next-day forecasts of these production losses are crucial for the power balance in the electrical grid and for the trading process, but they are uncertain due to lack of understanding of, and simplifications, in the modelling chain. 2. 22. Wave energy conversion and the marine environment : Colonization patterns and habitat dynamics

    Author : Olivia Langhamer; Anders Berglund; Jan Sundberg; Andrew Gill; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; artificial reefs; benthos; biodiversity; biofouling; colonization; environmental impact; fish; shellfish; Mytilus edulis; renewable energy; wave power; Biology; Biologi; Animal Ecology; Zooekologi;

    Abstract : A wave energy park has been established on the Swedish west coast outside Lysekil and pioneer work about its interactions with the marine environment has been conducted. So far, little is known about the effects of offshore energy installations on the marine environment, and this thesis assists in minimizing environmental risks as well as in enhancing potential positive effects on the marine environment. 3. 23. Community Resettlement within the Context of Conservation and Development Projects : Implications on Livelihood Chances Among Rural inhabitants of Ikondokondo village in South West Cameroon

    Author : Frankline Ndi; Paul Hebinck; Netherlands Wageningen Italy; Wageningen University Pisa Slovakia; University of Pisa Nitra Germany; Slovak University of Agriculture Berlin France; Humboldt University of Berlin Rennes Belgium; Agro campus Ouest Ghent Ghent University International Master of Science in Rural Development; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Community resettlement; Local people; Forest conservation; Livelihoods; Ikondokondo village; Cameroon;

    Abstract : In Cameroon the politics of forest resource governance stands asunder with the positive value of human activity within forest systems. This is partly due to the erroneous perception amongst policymakers and project planners that local peoples’ involvement in forest systems can only be detrimental. READ MORE

  4. 24. Increasing the hosting capacity of distributed energy resources using storage and communication

    Author : Nicholas Etherden; Sami Repo; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Renewable Energy Generation; Energy Storage; Hosting Capacity; Curtailment; Demand Response; Dynamic Line Rating; Power System Communication; Smart Grid; Förnyelsebara energikällor; Energilagring; Acceptansgräns; Kommunikation i kraftsystem; Smarta elnät; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik; Electric Power Engineering; Elkraftteknik;

    Abstract : The use of electricity from Distributed Energy Resources like wind and solar powerwill impact the performance of the electricity network and this sets a limit to theamount of such renewables that can be connected. Investment in energy storage andcommunication technologies enables more renewables by operating the networkcloser to its limits. READ MORE

  5. 25. Doctoral education in the entrepreneurial university : enhanced employability?

    Author : Eloïse Germain-Alamartine; Magnus Klofsten; Dzamila Bienkowska; Peter Van der Sijde; Linköpings universitet; []

    Abstract : This dissertation explores the issue of employability of doctorate holders through the theoretical lens of the model of the entrepreneurial university. It starts from the observation that there is a bottleneck in the academic labour market in many countries, making it increasingly difficult for recent doctoral graduates to engage in an academic career.
