  1. 1. Mercury and dioxins in a MercOx-scrubber

    University dissertation from Örebro : Örebro universitetsbibliotek

    Author : Carl-Johan Löthgren; Örebro universitet.; [2006]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; waste incineration; flue gas cleaning; PCDD PCDF; PBDD PBDF; wet scrubber; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The removal of mercury and the absorption of dioxins in an acid wet scrubber have been studied in industrial scale. Hydrogen peroxide is added as an oxidizing agent to the scrubber liquid with the purpose to remove SO2 and enhance the removal of mercury. READ MORE

  2. 2. Oxidation of terpenes in indoor environments A study of influencing factors

    University dissertation from Umeå : Ekologi och geovetenskap

    Author : Linda Pommer; Umeå universitet.; [2003]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Monoterpene; Ozone O3 ; Nitrogen dioxide NO2 ; Nitrogen oxide NO ; Relative humidity RH ; Modelling; Scrubber; Experimental design; Interaction; Volatile organic compounds VOC ; Sick buildings syndrome SBS ; Principal component analysis PCA ; Indoor air; Ventilation; Tenax TA; Sodium sulphite; Miljökemi; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry Environmental chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi Miljökemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : In this thesis the oxidation of monoterpenes by O3 and NO2 and factors that influenced the oxidation were studied. In the environment both ozone (O3) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) are present as oxidising gases, which causes sampling artefacts when using Tenax TA as an adsorbent to sample organic compounds in the air. 3. 3. The chemistry of organic iodides under severe nuclear accident conditions in LWRs

    University dissertation from Umeå : Ekologi och geovetenskap

    Author : Sabrina Tietze; [2015]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic iodides; Wet-filter system scrubber ; Chlorine; Volatile iodine source term; Severe nuclear accident; Cables; Sorption; Containment; Paint; Iodine; LWR; Radiolysis;

    Abstract : For many countries nuclear fission is an important part of their energy portfolio. However, a great concern is the occurrence of nuclear reactor accidents, which can result in the emission of radioactivity into the environment. READ MORE

  4. 4. Models for Wet Scrubbing of SO2 and NOx

    University dissertation from Chemical Engineering 2, Lund University

    Author : Charlotte Brogren; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [1997]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; limestone scrubbing; wet scrubbing; absorption; WFGD; flue gases; SO2; mass transfer; NOx; Chemical technology and engineering; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi;

    Abstract : Combustion of fossil fuels is the main source for emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Emission regulations and the growing environmental awareness will make great demands upon cost-effective deSO2 and deNOx techniques in the future. READ MORE

  5. 5. Formation, partitioning and interactions of organic iodides under severe nuclear accident conditions

    University dissertation from Chemical Engineering 2, Lund University

    Author : Sabrina Tietze; [2012]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Epoxy paint; Methyl iodide; Iodine source term; Organic iodides; Severe nuclear accidents;

    Abstract : During severe nuclear reactor accidents such as Chernobyl or Fukushima large amounts of radioactive iodine can be released in form of inorganic and organic iodine species into the environment. Volatile radioactive iodine species are harmful to human health when inhaled. READ MORE
