  1. 1. Second generation of Glucose Biosensors : Biofuel cells and Neurotransitters

    Author : NAJAT BEDEN; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; GDH; PDH; GOx; CDH; mediated electron transfer MET; Os-polymer; Man-Os VI tmen; PVPOs II -Chitosan; Au-NPs-MWCNTS; enzymatic biosensors; non-enzymatic sensor; DA-sensor; Multi-analyte sensor; DA; AA; UA;

    Abstract : Different FAD dependent GDH enzymes together with the Os-redox polymer Os(4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridine)2(PVI)10Cl]+ and a modified graphite electrode was shown to have distinct selectivity and high turnover rates towards glucose. The results of this study suggest that such electrodes may be applied either for glucose determination or as bioanodes in glucose biofuel cells. READ MORE

  2. 2. Design of Glutathione Transferase Variants for Novel Activities with Alternative Substrates

    Author : Abeer Shokeer; Bengt Mannervik; Francoise Raffalli-Mathieu; David Josephy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : Glutathione transferases (GSTs) play a pivotal role in cellular defense, since they are main contributors to the inactivation of genotoxic compounds of exogenous and endogenous origins. Directed evolution was used to improve the catalytic activities of Theta class GST T1-1 toward different substrates. READ MORE

  3. 3. Dendrimers and dendronized polymers : synthesis and characterization

    Author : Andreas Nyström; Anders Hult; A. Dieter Schlüter; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dendrimers; dendronized polymers; atom transfer radical polymerisation; ring-opening metathesis polymerization; reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization; 2; 2-bis methylol propionic acid; tri-block copolymers; rheology; differential scanning calorimerty; 1H-NMR self-diffusion; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : The goal of this work was to synthesize complex macromolecular architectures such as dendrimers and dendronized polymers, and evaluate the effect from the dendrons on the optical and material properties. The work presented in this doctoral thesis, Dendrimers and Dendronized Polymers - Synthesis and Characterization, is divided into one minor and one major part. READ MORE

  4. 4. Development and application of new chiral -amino alcohols in synthesis and catalysis : Use of 2-azanorboryl-3-methanols as common intermediates in synthesis and catalysis

    Author : Pedro Pinho; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Asymmetric synthesis; hetero-Diels-Alder reactions; chiral cyclopentyl-amines; chiral ligands and catalysts; amino alcohols; asymmetric reductions; ruthenium transfer hydrogenation; oxazaborolidines; asymmetric additions; dialkylzinc reagents; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The development and application of unnatural amino alcohols,prepared via hetero-Diels-Alder reactions,in synthesis and catalysis is described.The studies are concerned with the [i]scope of the hetero-Diels-Alder reaction and preparation of important intermediates in the synthesis of antiviral agents,[ii ]application of amino alcohols in the ruthenium transfer hydrogenation of ketones,[iii ]use of similar precursors in the in situ generation of oxazaborolidines for reduction of ketones,and [iv] development and application of new chiral auxiliaries for dialkylzinc additions to activated imines, respectively. 5. 5. Electrochemical monitoring of living cells

    Author : Christer Spegel; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PC12; redox; electrochemistry; NAD P H; Single cell; Microchip; S. cerevisiae;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the utilization of electroanalytical methods for analysis of dynamic cellular processes such as exocytosis, intracellular redox reactions and cell surface interactions. Microchips have been designed and manufactured with the purpose of monitoring dopamine exocytosis from single or a small ensemble of PC12 cells. READ MORE
