  1. 1. Angiotensin II Receptors in the Human Coronary Circulation and in Heart Failure

    Author : Emil Pantev; Kardiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; Heart Failure; Human Coronary Arteries; Angiotensin II; AT receptors;

    Abstract : Angiotensin II (Ang II) is a potent vasoconstrictor that is implicated in the pathogenesis of hypertension, heart failure and atherosclerosis. In this thesis, the efficacy and safety of Ang II receptor blockers (ARB) were evaluated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Stroke, Sex and Vascular Receptor Changes in the Brain

    Author : Hilda Ahnstedt; Lund Medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endothelin receptors; Cerebral ischemia; sex; estrogen; progesterone; sex differences; human cerebral arteries; endothelin-1; angiotensin II; middle cerebral artery occlusion; extra-cellular signal regulated kinase 1 and 2;

    Abstract : Stroke is a severe cerebrovascular disease in which the neuronal tissue and vasculature of the brain undergo ischemia-evoked alterations. We have demonstrated an increased expression of cerebrovascular contractile receptors in the brain. This is hypothesized to mitigate cerebral blood flow and exacerbate tissue damage after stroke. 4. 4. Clinical consequences after heart transplantation with reference to osteoporosis, renal function, and immunosuppression. Experiences from Skåne University Hospital in Lund 1988-2019

    Author : Eveline Löfdahl; Kardiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Heart Transplantation; Osteoporosis; chronic kidney disase; immunosuppressive agents;

    Abstract : Background. Heart transplantation (HT) remains the ultimate final therapy for patients with end-stage heart failure. To prevent rejection of the allograft, life-long immunosuppressive therapy is required. READ MORE

  5. 5. Long-term follow-up of patients with ANCA-associated vasculitis

    Author : Caroline Heijl; Njurmedicin; []
    Keywords : Anca-associated vasculitis;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on long-term follow-up results from two cohorts of patients with ANCA-associated vasculitis; one cohort with 535 patients originally included in 4 European randomized clinical trials (papers I and II) and one Swedish population-based cohort including 195 patients (papers III and IV). Two areas are covered in the two cohorts, respectively; the assessment of mortality, prognostic factors and causes of death in the two cohorts (paper I and III) and the assessment of malignancy risk compared with a matched general population (papers II and IV).
