11. Homochiral crystals for selective synthesis
Abstract : Six new coordination compounds were prepared from monodentate sulfide ligands and copper(I) halides and their crystal structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The aim was to prepare coordination polymers that crystallize as conglomerates in order to use them in total spontaneous resolution. READ MORE

12. The Influence of Water Vapour on the Oxidation Behaviour of High-temperature Materials Microstructure investigation using analytical electron microscopy
Abstract : This thesis covers the analytical electron microscopy work carried out on samples exposed to high-temperature oxidation in O2 atmospheres with the intention of investigating the effect of oxygen and water vapour. SEM/EDS, TEM/EDS and diffraction techniques, complemented by FIB precision milling, were employed to characterise the formed oxide scales as well as the material directly under the scale in order to understand the mechanisms that influence the corrosion process. 13. Vehicle emissions abatement: NO oxidation and ammonia SCR
Abstract : The design and the development of catalytic systems for reducing vehicle emissions is a complex task due to the variety of components in a wide range of gas flow and temperature. A complete system is, therefore, composed of a series of catalysts or catalytic systems, each of which is dealing with a particular aspect of the abatement process. READ MORE

14. Ultrafast Probing of CO Reactions on Metal Surfaces : Changes in the molecular orbitals during the catalysis process
Abstract : This thesis presents experimental studies of three different chemical reaction steps relevant for heterogeneous catalysis: dissociation, desorption, and oxidation. CO on single-crystal metal surfaces was chosen as the model systems. READ MORE

15. High temperature corrosion of some selected stainless steels and Ni-base alloys – an advanced microscopy study
Abstract : The thesis deals with high temperature corrosion behavior of some selective stainless steels and Ni-base alloys with applications in power generation technologies, e.g. boilers fired by biomass and waste. READ MORE
