  1. 1. Assessing self-association of intrinsically disordered proteins by coarse-grained simulations and SAXS

    Author : Ellen Rieloff; Beräkningskemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Intrinsically disordered proteins; Self-association; Coarse-grained modelling; Monte Carlo simulations; Small-angle X-ray scattering SAXS ; statherin;

    Abstract : This research investigates the behavior of intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) in solution, especially the self-associating saliva protein Statherin, by a combined computational and experimental approach. For the computational part, a bead necklace model previously parameterised for Histatin 5 was used. READ MORE

  2. 2. Aqueous Block Copolymer Systems. Self-association, Phase Behaviour and Partitioning of Biomolecules

    Author : Mårten Svensson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; block copolymer self-association partitioning phase behaviour; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : The phase and partitioning behaviour of aqueous block copolymer systems has been studied. The block copolymers used in this work were built up of three blocks. The middle block was poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) and hydrophobic. The two outer blocks constisted of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) chains and less hydrophobic. READ MORE

  3. 3. Functional properties of galectin-3. Beyond the sugar binding

    Author : Adriana Lepur; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; galectin-3; galectin-1; M1 macrophage; M2 macrophage; self-association; fluorescence anisotropy; citrus pectin; galactomannane;

    Abstract : Contemporary diseases like diabetes, asthma, atherosclerosis etc. are marked by chronic inflammation, often supported by the activity of different macrophages. Proteins from galectin family were found to contribute to disease pathophysiology. Therefore, there is an intensive interest in understanding different galectin functions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Electrochemical Studies of Quinonoid Compounds for Aqueous Organic Redox Flow Batteries

    Author : Cedrik Wiberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Redox Flow Batteries; Naphthalene Diimides; Self-Association; Quinones; Electrochemistry;

    Abstract : In the current times of uncertainty in face of climate change, sustainable energy-related technologies are developed with urgency. A candidate of special interest is Aqueous Organic Redox Flow Batteries (AORFB), whose utility depends heavily on the organic molecules used. READ MORE

  5. 5. Ethyl(hydroxyethyl)cellulose and Some Model Uncharged Polymers: A Calorimetric Study of Their Interaction with Surfactants in Aqueous Solution

    Author : Geng Wang; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; calorimetry; differntial scanning; isothermal titration; enthalpy; electrolyte; micelles; self-association; thermal gelling; interaction; alkyltrimethylammonium halides; sodium dodecylsulfate; surfactants; polymers; ethyl hydroxylethyl cellulose; viscosity; phase behavior; self-diffusion NMR; Physics; Fysik; Chemistry; Kemi; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Wang;

    Abstract : The interactions between uncharged polymers, e.g. ethyl(hydroxylethyl)cellulose (EHEC) and some model polymers, and ionic surfactants in aqueous solution has been studied by using isothermal titration and differential scanning calorimetry. READ MORE
