11. Biomimetic surfaces : Preparation, characterization and application
Abstract : I denna avhandling beskrivs tillverkning, karaktärisering och tillämpning av ett antal biomimetiska ytor. Biomimetik är att härma naturen och grundtanken är att titta på hur naturen löst liknande problemställningar. READ MORE

12. Theoretical Characterization of Functional Molecular Materials
Abstract : Nowadays, material, energy and information technologies are three pillar industries. The materials that have close relation with our life have also been the foundation for the development of energy and information technologies. READ MORE

13. Improving the biocatalyst. Engineering of fungal oxidoreductases and thin-film electrodes for improvement of membraneless biofuel cells and carbohydrate biosensors
Abstract : This thesis presents investigations for the improvement of electrical contact and catalytical properties of two fungal redox enzymes, cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) and pyranose dehydrogenase (PDH), with electrodes and the use of the prepared electrodes as carbohydrate biosensors and in enzymatic biofuel cells. The performance of enzyme modified electrodes can be improved in two ways, by modifying the bioelement or by modifying the electrode. READ MORE

14. Spatially Controlled Covalent Immobilization of Biomolecules on Silicon Surfaces
Abstract : The work described in this thesis aims to achieving surface patterning through chemical activation of thiolated silicon oxide surfaces, resulting in a spatially controlled covalent immobilization of biomolecules with high resolution.Existing chemical methods to immobilize molecules on surfaces do not reach below the micrometer scale while the ones allowing for spatial control mostly lead to non-covalent adsorption of molecules on surfaces, or require several successive chemical reactions to obtain the final covalent immobilization. 15. Development of Capacitive Biosensors for Monitoring of Bacterial Toxins and Other Biomolecules
Abstract : Sensing and quantification of biomolecules are becoming increasingly important in medical diagnostics, bioprocess technology and recently in homeland security. The majority of techniques currently employed to interrogate biomolecules require some type of radio-, enzymatic- or fluorescent-labeling. READ MORE
