  2. 2. Resonances of Dirac Operators

    Author : Jimmy Kungsman; Wolfgang Staubach; Roman Schubert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Semiclassical analysis; Dirac operator; resonances; Poisson trace formula; scattering theory; complex absorbing potential; pseudodifferential operator; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of a summary of four papers dealing with resonances of Dirac operators on Euclidean 3-space. In Paper I we show that the Complex Absorbing Potential (CAP) method is valid in the semiclassical limit for resonances sufficiently close to the real line if the potential is smooth and compactly supported. 3. 3. Asymptotic and universal spectral estimates with applications in many-body quantum mechanics and spectral shape optimization

    Author : Simon Larson; Ari Laptev; Stefan Steinerberger; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spectral theory; shape optimization; semiclassical asymptotics; spectral inequalities; quantum mechanics; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of eight papers primarily concerned with the quantitative study of the spectrum of certain differential operators. The majority of the results split into two categories. READ MORE

  4. 4. Semiclassical Analysis of Super-Shell Structure in Trapped Fermi Gases

    Author : Magnus Ögren; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysicumarkivet A:2008:Ögren;

    Abstract : This dissertation investigates the oscillation part of the level density for trapped fermions. Analytical so-called trace formulae have been known for the two theoretically important potentials, the spherical cavity and harmonic oscillator, since more than thirty years. READ MORE
