1. The Role of Lhx2 During Organogenesis : - Analysis of the Hepatic, Hematopoietic and Olfactory Systems
Abstract : During embryonic development a variety of tissues and organs such as the lung, eye, and kidney are being formed. The generation of functional organs is regulated by reciprocal cell-cell interactions. Via the secretion of soluble molecules one type of cells affect the fate of their neighboring cells. READ MORE

2. Pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum epidemiology and outcome in children born in Sweden 1980-1999
Abstract : Aims: To describe children born with pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum (PA-IVS) in Sweden between 1980 and 1999, the incidence and outcome of PA-IVS, to examine cardio-pulmonary outcomes in survivors and to evaluate their quality of life. Material and methods: Eighty-four subjects were identified. READ MORE

3. Serotonergic receptor subtypes in learning and memory : focus on 5-HT1A, 5-HT1B and 5-HT2A receptors
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to study how serotonin (5-HT) receptor subtypes can influence hippocampus/amygdala-dependent teaming and memory using the water maze (WM) and the passive avoidance (PA) tasks in rodents, and to provide a cellular correlate to the behavioral results using histochemical methods. Glutamatergic neurons in the trisynaptic circuit of the hippocampus are believed to be important for spatial teaming and memory as well as synaptic plasticity. READ MORE

4. Neurochemical regulators of the septohippocampal pathway : role in spatial and aversive learning
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to investigate the significance of major neurotransmitters in the septohippocampal pathway for hippocampal-dependent learning and memory. The cholinergic and GABAergic neurons in the medial septal/vertical limb of the diagonal band of Broca area (MS/vDB) projecting to the hippocampus, constitute the septohippocampal pathway, which has been implicated in a number of important functions such as attention, anxietylike behavior and hippocampal-dependent learning and memory. 5. Segmentation of Medical Images, Applications in Echocardiography and Nuclear Medicine
Abstract : Segmentation is an important task in all kinds of image analysis. In medical image analysis segmentation has a great clinical value since the aim could be to localize organs or pathologies in order to raise the quality of diagnoses. READ MORE
