1. Orthogonal Polynomials, Operators and Commutation Relations
Abstract : Orthogonal polynomials, operators and commutation relations appear in many areas of mathematics, physics and engineering where they play a vital role. For instance, orthogonal functions in general are central to the development of Fourier series and wavelets which are essential to signal processing. READ MORE

2. Lubrication mechanisms and properties of non-halogenated orthoborate ionic liquids
Abstract : One way to reduce energy consumption and waste - a necessity to achieve the UN-mandated limitation of average global temperature in-creases - is to select suitable lubricants so that energy-losses through friction and wear are minimised. In this context, non-halogenated ionicliquids (ILs) are promising candidates to achieve this aim due to their intrinsic ionic properties, low vapour pressure and high thermal stability. READ MORE

3. Kähler-Poisson Algebras
Abstract : In this thesis, we introduce Kähler-Poisson algebras and study their basic properties. The motivation comes from differential geometry, where one can show that the Riemannian geometry of an almost Kähler manifold can be formulated in terms of the Poisson algebra of smooth functions on the manifold. 4. Asymptotics of implied volatility in the Gatheral double stochastic volatility model
Abstract : We consider a market model of financial engineering with three factors represented by three correlated Brownian motions. The volatility of the risky asset in this model is the sum of two stochastic volatilities. The dynamic of each volatility is governed by a mean-reverting process. READ MORE

5. Configuration spaces, props and wheel-free deformation quantization
Abstract : The main theme of this thesis is higher algebraic structures that come from operads and props. The first chapter is an introduction to the mathematical framework needed for the content of this thesis. The chapter does not contain any new results. READ MORE
