  1. 11. Fixed points, fractals, iterated function systems and generalized support vector machines

    Author : Xiaomin Qi; Sergei Silvestrov; Anatoliy Malyarenko; Daniel Andren; Viktor Abramov; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; support vector machine; fixed points; iterated function system; variational inequality; Mathematics Applied Mathematics; matematik tillämpad matematik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, fixed point theory is used to construct a fractal type sets and to solve data classification problem. Fixed point method, which is a beautiful mixture of analysis, topology, and geometry has been revealed as a very powerful and important tool in the study of nonlinear phenomena. READ MORE

  2. 12. Optimization of Just-in-Time Sequencing Problems and Supply Chain Logistics

    Author : Gyan Thapa; Sergei Silvestrov; Anatoliy Malyarenko; George Fodor; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Just-in-time; JIT sequencing; apportionment; product rate variation; output rate variation; algorithms; heuristics; supply chain; logistics; queueing; non-linear integer programming; Mathematics Applied Mathematics; matematik tillämpad matematik;

    Abstract : This dissertation presents a comprehensive and comparative progress in sequencing approaches of mixed-model just-in-time (JIT) sequencing problem together with discrete apportioment problem (DAP). The goal of JIT sequencing problem (JITSP) is to keep the rate of usage of parts as constant as possible along the assembly lines, and the goal of DAP is to divide a given integer number of delegates proportionally among the states or the parties according to their population or votes. 3. 13. Influence of stresses and impurities on thermodynamic and elastic properties of metals and alloys from ab initio theory

    Author : Olga Vekilova; Igor Abrikosov; Sergei Simak; Björn Winkler; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Stresses and impurities may influence elastic properties, phase stability and magnetic behavior of metals and their alloys. A physical understanding of this influence is of great importance to both fundamental science and technological applications. READ MORE

  4. 14. Digital Dispersion Equalization and Carrier Phase Estimation in 112-Gbit/s Coherent Optical Fiber Transmission System

    Author : Tianhua Xu; Sergei Popov; Gunnar Jacobsen; Jie Li; Magnus Karlsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Coherent transmission; chromatic dispersion; carrier phase estimation; digital signal processing; Optics; Optik; Photonics; Fotonik; SRA - ICT; SRA - Informations- och kommunikationsteknik;

    Abstract : Coherent detection employing multilevel modulation format has become one of the most promising technologies for next generation high speed transmission system due to the high power and spectral efficiencies. With the powerful digital signal processing (DSP), coherent optical receivers allow the significant equalization of chromatic dispersion (CD), polarization mode dispersion (PMD), phase noise (PN) and nonlinear effects in the electrical domain.
