6. The prey perspective - behaviour and appearance in a world of predators
Abstract : The varieties of prey phenotypes that have been revealed in nature are vast and many of these phenotypes are the result of the selective force that predators have had on prey traits in the past. Even within species and populations we see variations due to both differences in the selection forces they live under but also due to individual trait variation. READ MORE

7. Evolution and Ecology of AhR genes in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.)
Abstract : In vertebrates, studies of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) have been of particular interest due to its direct involvement in the toxic effects exerted by several environmental pollutants, such as PCB and dioxin. After binding to the toxic molecule, this receptor initiates transcription of several genes that are part of the biotransformation battery but most notably the cytochrome P450 (CYP) genes, which results in an excessive release of oxidative enzymes and free radicals. 8. Maternal Separation in the Rat : The Short- and Long-term effects of Early-life Experience on Neuropeptides, Monoamines and Voluntary Ethanol Consumption
Abstract : Early-life experience has profound effects on the individual’s neurobiology and behaviour later in life. The rodent animal experimental model maternal separation (MS) was used to study this more in detail. The MS model involves short and prolonged postnatal separations simulating an emotionally safe and stressful environment, respectively. READ MORE

9. Endogenous Opioids and Voluntary Ethanol Drinking : Consequences of Postnatal Environmental Influences in Rats
Abstract : Genetic and environmental factors interact to determine the individual vulnerability to develop ethanol dependence. The neurobiological mechanisms underlying these processes are not fully understood. Endogenous opioid peptides have been suggested to contribute. READ MORE

10. On the function endogenous pain controlling systems in healthy subjects and patients with peripheral or central neuropathic pain
Abstract : Introduction and aim: Activity in the nociceptive system is modulated by descending inhibitory and facilitatory supraspinal endogenous control. Altered balance between inhibition and facilitation has been suggested to at least partly explain the maintenance of some persistent pain conditions. READ MORE
