  1. 1. Shear Behaviour of Adhesive Layers

    Author : Karin Leffler; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; Adhersive layer; shear; ENF-specimen; stress-deformation relation; experimental method; J-integral; inverse method; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik; Teknik; Technology;

    Abstract : An experimental method to determine the complete stress versus deformation relation for a thin adhesive layer loaded in shear is presented. The work is based on a classical specimen geometry, i.e. the end-notch flexure specimen (ENF-specimen) and the experiments are evaluated based on an inverse method. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mechanical behaviour of adhesive layers : experimental methods, cohesive laws, and fracture mechanics

    Author : Anders Biel; Kristofer Gamstedt; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; experimental method; adhesive layer; cohesive law; fracture; fracture energy; energy release rate; peel; shear; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Teknik; Technology;

    Abstract : Adhesive joining is today viewed as one of the key technologies to achieve decreased emissions in the automobile industry. To decrease weight, optimal material selection often results in different materials for different parts. This leads to the necessity to join mixed material. Here, the use of adhesives is the most promising joining technology. READ MORE

  4. 4. Wood fibre deformation in combined shear and compression

    Author : Federica De Magistris; Anders Eriksson; Ola Dahlblom; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Arcan; compression; density; energy; finite element analysis; Iosipescu; Picea abies; shear; wood; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Abstract : Mechanical pulping for producing pulps from softwood suitable for printing grade papers, like news, is a highly energy-intensive process consuming around 2000 kWh/t in electrical energy. Due to increasing energy costs and environmental issues there is a high demand for decreasing this energy consumption. READ MORE

  5. 5. Shear Fracture and Delamination in Packaging Materials : A study of Experimental Methods and Simulation Techniques

    Author : Md. Shafiqul Islam; Sharon Kao-Walter; Christian Johansson; Johan Tryding; Blekinge Institute of Technology; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; Package opening; Shear test specimen; Stress intensity factor; Finite Element simulation; Scanning electron microscopy; Polymers; Interlaminar shear delamination;

    Abstract : Packages are the means of preservation, distribution and convenience of use for food, medicine and other consumer products. Package opening is becoming complicated in many cases because of cutting cost in design and production of opening techniques. READ MORE
