  1. 11. A Kerr-full Study of Higher-Spin Amplitudes : An on-shell construction of higher-spin amplitudes for black holes and strings

    Author : Paolo Pichini; Henrik Johansson; Donal O'Connell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; scattering amplitudes; higher-spin theory; black holes; string theory; gravitational waves; Theoretical Physics; Teoretisk fysik;

    Abstract : Recently, it was shown that Kerr black holes can be described via the classical infinite-spin limit of a special class of scattering amplitudes in a massive higher-spin quantum field theory. Although this approach has successfully obtained state-of-the-art results for spinning black-hole binaries, only the three-point amplitude that describes Kerr is known in full generality and a full understanding of the underlying Lagrangian is still missing. 2. 12. Constructing the six-dimensional (2,0) theories

    Author : Erik Flink; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Field theory in higher dimensions; M-theory; string theory;

    Abstract : In this thesis we give a brief review of the six-dimensional(2,0) theories and how they emerge from the study of string/M-theory. In particular, the A_N version of (2,0) theory is the world-volume theory of N+1 parallel M5-branes in the limit where gravity decouples. READ MORE

  3. 13. Modelling of Delamination Growth in Composite Structures

    Author : Niklas E. Jansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; large deformation; interface; composite materials; 3D-shell; cohesive zone; regularization; shell element; delamination;

    Abstract : Delaminations constitute an important damage and failure mode in polymeric composite laminates. In order to explicitly incorporate and model the delamination progression within a finite element analysis, the meso-modelling concept is applied in the present work. The laminate is thereby represented by separate layers connected with interfaces. READ MORE

  4. 14. Aerosol Generated Core-shell Nanoparticles : Synthesis and Characterization

    Author : Markus Snellman; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aerosol technology; core-shell particles; nanoparticles; Janus particles;

    Abstract : Aerosol technology is a promising platform to synthesize and study core-shellnanoparticles - a multi-elemental nanoparticle system where the core of one material is covered by a shell of another material. In this thesis, two distinctly separate strategies have been explored to synthesize core-shell nanoparticles by aerosol methods: physical vapor deposition (PVD) by evaporation, and surface segregation via thermal treatment. 5. 15. Off-shell, maximal supersymmetry & exceptional geometry

    Author : Anna Karlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Maximal supersymmetry; pure spinors; exceptional geometry; maximal supergravity; loop amplitudes; U-duality; high energy particle physics;

    Abstract : Two lines of research are presented in this thesis, both with a focus on fundamental properties within the supersymmetric theories of high energy physics. The first features analyses based on the actions for maximal supersymmetric Yang–Mills theory and supergravity, provided by the pure spinor formalism. READ MORE
