16. Plasma assisted low temperature semiconductor wafer bonding
Abstract : Direct semiconductor wafer bonding has emerged as a technology to meet the demand foradditional flexibility in materials integration. The applications are found in microelectronics, optoelectronics and micromechanics. For instance, wafer bonding is used to produce silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafers. READ MORE

17. Ge/high-k Gates for Monolithic 3D Integration
Abstract : Continuous scaling of transistor dimensions has been in the heart of semiconductorindustry for many years. Recently the scaling has been enabled by various performance boosters which resulted in increased processing complexity and cost, forcing the chip manufacturers to look for some alternative solutions. 18. Nanostructured Semiconductor Materials for Light Manipulation Functions
Abstract : Structuring of semiconductor materials is utilized in many optoelectronic devices, e.g, in order to make them more efficient, cost-effective, and/or to obtain specific wavelength-engineered responses. Semiconductor materials are widely used in optoelectronic devices due to their favorable optical and electric properties. READ MORE

19. On the Impact of Piston Motion and In-Cylinder Charge Composition on Energy Release, Auto Ignition and Emission Formation in Premixed Charge Internal Combustion Engines
Abstract : The results presented in this thesis can be divided into four areas of investigation: Investigation of the effect of new volume-crank angle relations on engine emissions, power and efficiency; investigation of nitrogen oxides effect on auto ignition and knock in SI engines; investigation of premixed SI and HCCI engine operation with the alternative fuels hydrogen and reformed methanol gas (RMG); software development of a detailed chemical kinetics zonal engine model. Model development of the in-house two-zone chemical kinetic code focused on expansion of the Jacobian matrix to allow simulations of variable in-cylinder charge. READ MORE

20. Fabry-Pérot based refractometry : development of a transportable refractometer for assessment of gas pressure
Abstract : A unified description of physical phenomena through measurement science is one of the foundational pillars in a global society. The International System of Units (SI) is the most widely used system of units and since its redefinition in 2019, all units encompassed by it are based on fundamental physical constants. READ MORE
