11. Novel genes in gonadal development
Abstract : Mammalian sex determination and differentiation can be divided into three major steps. In the first step, which occurs at fertilisation, the genetic sex is established, XX or XY. In the second step, development of the indifferent gonad into either an ovary or a testis takes place. READ MORE

12. Control of EGR and VGT for Emission Control and Pumping Work Minimization in Diesel Engines
Abstract : Legislators steadily increase the demands on lowered emissions from heavy duty vehicles. To meet these demands it is necessary to integrate technologies like Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and Variable Geometry Turbochargers (VGT) together with advanced control systems. READ MORE

13. Transport Properties of Superconducting d-wave junctions
Abstract : At surfaces and interfaces of d-wave superconductors, quasiparticle bound states with zero energy, midgap states (MGS), are necessarily formed as a consequence of the sign change of the d-wave order parameter upon 90° rotation. The MGS can never exist at s-wave superconductor surfaces and are therefore true fingerprints of unconventional superconductivity. READ MORE

14. A study of finite-size, non-perturbative and anisotropic effects on the Lifshitz-van der Waals forces and torque with material dielectric responses from first-principles calculations
Abstract : The van der Waals and the Casimir-Lifshitz forces are forces of attraction that exist between neutral polarizable bodies due to quantum fluctuations. They can be repulsive depending on the material properties and the geometry of the system. READ MORE

15. Pain in rheumatoid arthritis : bone and neuroinflammation-associated mechanisms
Abstract : Pain is often the primary reason patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) seek medical care. Despite effective disease control with currently available disease modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), there are still hurdles to overcome as a significant proportion of patients still report continuous pain.
