  1. 1. Towards Sustainable Use of Chemicals in the Textile Industry: How life cycle assessment can contribute

    Author : Sandra Roos; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Toxicity; Textile; LCA; Chemicals; Impact assessment;

    Abstract : The use of chemicals in the textile industry is a topic that has been given increasing attention in recent years. Hazardous chemicals are found in textile consumer products on a regular basis, and there is an increased awareness of the health and environmental impact caused by emissions of hazardous chemicals in the countries where textile production occurs. 2. 2. The Common Thread, Textile Production during the Late Iron Age and Viking Age

    Author : Eva Andersson; Arkeologi; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Haithabu; Birka; Scania; Viking Age; Late Iron Age; household production; textile valuables; sail cloth; bone needle; loom weight; textile production; spindle whorl; Archaeology; Arkeologi;

    Abstract : The initial aim of the present PhD thesis was to develop the method of classification for textile tools to facilitate the study of textile production in an archaeological context. The thesis consists of five separate projects and a concluding summary. The study covers the late Iron Age, mainly the Viking Period. READ MORE

  3. 3. Contact Allergy to Textile Dyes - Clinical and Chemical Studies on Disperse Dyes

    Author : Kristina Morgardt-Ryberg; Yrkes- och miljödermatologi; []

    Abstract : Disperse dyes are common sensitizers among textile dyes. Contact allergy to disperse dyes has been documented in studies carried out in southern Europe, however, corresponding studies have not been performed in the Scandinavian countries. READ MORE

  4. 4. Creating diverse colour-changing effects on textiles

    Author : Marjan Kooroshnia; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; dynamic textile patterns; leuco dye-based thermochromic inks; textile design; Smart textiles; Textiles and Fashion General ; Textil och mode generell ;

    Abstract : With the technological progress of materials science, the palette of colours with which to print on textiles has expanded beyond those with previously known properties and expressions to a new generation, with more advanced functionality and expressive properties. This new range of colours is characterised by their ability when printed on textiles to change colour in relation to external factors and internal programmes; for example, leuco dye-based thermochromic inks generally change colour in response to temperature fluctuations. 5. 5. On textile printing with thermochromic inks

    Author : Marjan Kooroshnia; Hanna Landin; Sara Robertson; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Abstract : This thesis describes an exploration of the principles of applying leuco dye-based inks to textile design practice. The main motivation has been to explore the design properties and potentials of leuco dye-based thermochromic inks when printed on textiles in order to obtain an understanding and facilitate the design of dynamic surface patterns.
