16. Development of speed-power performance models for ship voyage optimization
Abstract : Various measures, such as voyage optimization, performance monitoring and ship cleaning schedules, have been developed to help increase the energy efficiency of shipping operations. One of the most important elements needed for these measures is a reliable ship speed-power model. READ MORE

17. Extraction and chromatography of bioactive compounds in complex samples using supercritical CO2 technology
Abstract : Bioactive compounds found in plants have been of interest to man since ancient times. These compounds have the ability to modulate the metabolic processes in our bodies, which suggests that they may promote better health. Bioactive compounds vary in their chemical structure, polarity, stability and biological activity. READ MORE

18. Space-Time Prediction of Ocean Winds
Abstract : The topic of this thesis is inspired by an experiment in which a vessel, laying a submarine cable, was provided with forecasts overlaid with satellite observations of significant wave height. During the operation, the vessel was close to an adverse weather area and the personnel on board could confirm that the forecast was not as close to the "ground truth" as the satellite observation was. 19. Sunspot structure and dynamics
Abstract : Fundamental physical processes occur on small spatial scales in the solar atmosphere and high-spatial-resolution observations are necessary to test theoretical models. This thesis presents high-spatial-resolution observations of sunspots obtained with the Swedish solar telescopes on La Palma: the Swedish Vacuum Solar Telescope (SVST) and its successor the Swedish 1-m Solar Telescope (SST). 20. Combined Digital Holography and Speckle Correlation for Rapid Shape Evaluation
Abstract : In manufacturing industry there is a high demand for on line quality control to minimize the risk of incorrectly produced objects. Conventional contact measurement methods are usually slow and invasive, meaning that they cannot be used for soft materials and for complex shapes without influencing thecontrolled parts. READ MORE
