  1. 1. Experimental studies of ion transport in cementitious materials under partially saturated conditions

    Author : Nilla Olsson; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Keywords : Cement; Bruk; Betong; Jontransport; Fukttransport; Sorptionsisoterm; Tillsatsmaterial; Kiselstoft; Masugnsslagg; Ciment; Mortier; Béton; Transport ionique; Transport d humidité; Sorption de vapeur d eau; Additions minérales; Fumée de silice; Laitier de haut fourneau granulé moulu; Cement; Mortar; Concrete; Ion transport; moisture transport; Water vapor sorption; Supplementary cementitious materials SCMs ; Silica fume; Ground granulated blast furnace slag;

    Abstract : Cement production is responsible for a significant portion of manmade CO2 emissions. This motivates the development of cementitious binders with a lower carbon footprint. Considering the emissions in a longer perspective, the durability of concrete structures is absolutely essential. READ MORE

  3. 3. A Quantitative Thermogravimetric Study on the Nonevaporable Water in Mature Silica Fume Concrete: Influence of Carbonation and Moisture Conditions

    Author : Elisabeth Helsing Atlassi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; moisture; carbonation; cement composites; cement; thermogravimetric method;

    Abstract : The primary goal of the project presented here was to study and quantify the influence of materials parameters (cement type, silica fume content, w/c ratio, type and dose of superplasticizers) and environmental parameters (carbonation and moisture history) on the nonevaporable water in hydrated cement composites. In order to achieve this, a thermogravimetric method which separates different types of nonevaporable water (bound in different hydrates and hydroxide) and carbonation products was developed. 4. 4. Quasi-instantaneous and Long-term Deformations of High-Performance Concrete with Some Related Properties

    Author : Bertil Persson; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Shrinkage; Relative humidity; Long-term; Hydration; High-Performance Concrete; Elastic modulus; Deformations; Creep; Concrete; Cement; Quasi-instantaneous; Strength; Building construction; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : This report outlines an experimental and numerical study on quasi-instantaneous and long-term deformations of High-Performance Concrete, HPC, with some related properties. For this purpose about two hundred small cylinders and about one thousand cubes of eight types of HPC were cast. The age at loading varied between 18h and 28 days. READ MORE

  5. 5. Chloride initiated reinforcement corrosion in marine concrete

    Author : Paul Sandberg; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; w c ratio; cover thickness; chloride penetration; service life prediction; corrosion cells; chloride thresholds; field exposure tests; marine concrete; pozzolans; reinforcement corrosion; chloride binding; Building construction; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : Factors affecting the total chloride threshold for initiation of pitting corrosion in reinforced concrete were investigated by means of field and laboratory exposure tests. Factors affecting the chloride penetration into concrete were also investigated by means of field tests. The thesis consists of a summary (86 p.) and 11 papers attached. READ MORE
