  1. 1. Cold lap formation in Gas Metal Arc Welding of steel : An experimental study of micro-lack of fusion defects

    Author : Peigang Li; Lars-Erik Svensson; Norbert Enzinger; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tandem GMAW; old laps; lack of fusion; Spatter; Overlap; Overflow; Manganese; Silicon; Oxides; Temperature; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : Cold laps are defined as micro-lack of fusion defects at the weld toe more or less parallel to the surface of the parent plate. These defects are known to negatively influence the fatigue properties of weldments. Previous studies suggest that cold lap formation can not be avoided completely in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). 2. 2. Understanding the Role of Molybdenum on the Precipitation in PH Stainless Steels

    Author : MARCUS ANDERSSON; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; silicon; Precipitation; ageing; EFTEM; molybdenum; atom probe.; martensitic PH stainless steel;

    Abstract : The main part of the present work concerns studies of the influence of molybdenum on the microstructure of martensitic PH stainless steels, during ageing at 475°C. A short investigation of the silicon impact has also been conducted. READ MORE

  3. 3. On the role of microstructure in wear of nanostructured carbide-free bainitic steels

    Author : Pouria Valizadeh Moghaddam; Jens Hardell; Esa Vuorinen; Braham Prakash; Mikael Olsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tribology; Wear; Microstructure; Carbide-free bainite; Nanostructured; Retained austenite; Steel; High temperature; Machine Elements; Maskinelement;

    Abstract : The significance of steel production for the development of sustainable society and economy is immense. Today’s fast growing global economy poses an increasing demand for improving the properties of steel. READ MORE

  4. 4. Increasing phase transformation rate in advanced high strength steel applications

    Author : Farnoosh Forouzan; Esa Vuorinen; Frank Mücklich; Maria Santofimia Navarro; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Advanced high strength steel; Quenching and partitioning; welding; Engineering Materials; Materialteknik;

    Abstract : The bainite transformation rate has been shown to increase by starting the heat treatment with partial martensite transformation after austenitization. Based on this fact, a process very similar to “Quenching and Partitioning” (Q&P) is used to produce a fine-grained complex microstructure of martensite, bainite and retained austenite with outstanding mechanical properties in a very short time. 5. 5. Alternatives to pickling : preparation of carbon and low alloyed steel wire rod

    Author : Peter Gillström; Magnus Jarl; Sven-Erik Lundberg; Tarras Wanheim; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : Mechanical descaling; shot blasting; pickling; steel wire rod; wear; drawing; Mechanical engineering; Maskinteknik; Maskinteknik; Mechanical Engineering;

    Abstract : A well established method for scale removal on hot rolled wire rod is pickling. To avoid pollution problems, the wire rod can be mechanically descaled. By this method, the removed scale can be recirculated to the blast furnace. In batch pickling considerable energy is necessary; e. READ MORE
