  1. 1. Functional PVC Additives : Core-Shell Nanoparticle and Renewable Resource Plasticizers

    Author : Bo Yin; Minna Hakkarainen; Mikael Skrifvars; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PVC; nanocomposite; nanoparticle; core-shell; plasticizer; renewable resources; isosorbide; glucose;

    Abstract : Several functional poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) additives were designed: PVC plasticizers made from renewable resources as alternatives to traditional phthalate plasticizers and core-shell nanoparticle-plasticizers with the aim to design an additive that can improve several mechanical properties simultaneously. Monomeric and oligomeric PVC plasticizers based of isosorbide and glucose were synthesized. READ MORE

  2. 2. Nanoparticle plasmonics for solar cell applications

    Author : Viktoria Gusak; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; titanium dioxide.; Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance; mesoporous material; Plasmonic nanoparticle; amorphous hydrogenated Silicon; solar cell; Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell; diffusion;

    Abstract : The energy demand of society increases rapidly, while the main source of today’s energy, the fossil fuels, eventually will be depleted and also poses environmental and climate hazards (though the global warming). Therefore there is a need for alternative, renewable energy sources, and solar photovoltaics (solar cells) will play an important role as one of them. READ MORE

  3. 3. Luminescence of Silicon Nanoparticles Synthesized by Ion Implantation

    Author : Thawatchart Chulapakorn; Anders Hallén; Daniel Primetzhofer; Yanwen Zhang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Silicon nanoparticle; Photoluminescence; Ion beam synthesis; Ion beam analysis; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Silicon nanoparticles (SiNPs) have been shown to display luminescence in the visible range with a peak wavelength depending on the nanoparticle size. This finding is of potential interest for integration of optoelectronic devices in semiconductor technology. READ MORE

  4. 4. Optimization of resonant all-dielectric nanoparticles for optical manipulation and light management

    Author : Nils Odebo Länk; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; FDTD; Nanophotonics; Metasurfaces; Optical Forces; All-dielectric; Perfect Absorption; Silicon;

    Abstract : The resonant interaction between light and matter lies at the heart of nanophotonics research. In particular, nanoparticles that possess optical resonances in the visible spectral range have been avidly studied and employed for various technical and biological applications in the last two decades. 5. 5. Aerosol Metal Nanoparticles and their Role in Particle-Assisted Growth of III–V Nanowires

    Author : Robert Hallberg; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aerosol formation; III–V semiconductor materials; catalyst particles; Palladium nanoparticles; Gold nanoparticles; Spark discharge generation; MOVPE; MOCVD; Transmission electron microscopy TEM ; Phase stability; Nanoparticle deposition; Nanoparticle generation; nanoparticles characterization; Nanowire NW ; Nanowire growth;

    Abstract : Semiconductor nanowires have properties that make them potentially useful for applications in future electronic, photovoltaic, and optoelectronic devices. A powerful nanowire fabrication technique is the use of a nanoparticle as a preferential nucleation site, from which a nanowire grows. READ MORE
