  1. 1. Evaluating effects of low concentrations of oil in marine benthic communities

    Author : Fredrik Lindgren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PAHs; community response; microbial community; oil; meiofauna;

    Abstract : Large anthropogenic discharges of oil annually enter the marine environment, in the magnitude from large scale discharges to minor leakage, caused by ship collision accidents or seepage from urban areas. Possible detrimental environmental effects from these discharges differ, from acute lethal to chronic sub-lethal. READ MORE

  2. 2. Silicone Rubber Insulators: Impacts of Material Formulation in Coastal Environment

    Author : Tomas G Gustavsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; surface characterization; aging; filler level; outdoor insulation; leakage current measurements; material formulation; silicone rubber; polymeric insulators; coastal environment; polydimethylsiloxane PDMS ;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with influences of material formulation on the performance of silicone rubber high voltage insulators in a coastal environment. Samples and insulators with known differences in material compositions have been used in this task. In the first step, a screening test with cylindrical samples was initiated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Rheological measurements on fibre suspension

    Author : Mina Djalili-Moghaddam; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; silicone oil; viscosity; rotational rheometry; normal stress difference; parallel plate; cone and plate; geometry effects; fibre suspensions;

  4. 4. Evaluation of an automatic urinometer including use of silicone oil to decrease biofilm formation due to proteinuria, hemoglobinuria and bacterial growth

    Author : Martin Slettengren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: A new capacitance-based automatic urinometer (AU) facilitates continuous urine output (UO) measurement, which may help to predict and diagnose acute kidney injury (AKI). To prevent mismeasurement due to bacterial, albumin or free hemoglobin biofilm, a water-soluble capsule with silicone oil has been integrated in the device. READ MORE

  5. 5. Interfacial Phenomena in Two-Phase systems: Emulsions and slag Foaming

    Author : Abha Kapilashrami; Seshadri Seetharaman; Bridget Harris; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; film formation; o w emulsion; substrate effect; slag forming; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : In the present work studies were performed to provide understanding for further model development of the two-phase phenomena, film formation from o/w emulsions and slag foaming.The drying of o/w emulsions of different oil viscosities on hydrophobic and hydrophilic substrates was studied.
