  1. 1. Regenerative Chatter Vibration in Indexable Drills : Modeling and Simulation

    Author : Amir Parsian; Tomas Beno; Mahdi Eynian; Martin Magnevall; Erhan Budak; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sound; Vibrations; Drill; Indexable; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : An indexable insert drill is a drill which uses cutting inserts to make holes. Undesirable sound generated by this type of drill has always been considered as a problem in workshops. The focus of this thesis is to investigate the mechanism behind these vibrations, to model it and to provide guidelines for reducing the sound in future drill designs. READ MORE

  2. 2. Switched Bond Graphs : Simulation and Analysis

    Author : Krister Edström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bond graphs; Hybrid systems; Modeling; Simulation; Causality; Discontinuities;

    Abstract : In this thesis an approach to modeling and simulation of mode switching systems is investigated. This approach, switched bond graphs, is an extension of the bond graph language in the sense that it allows modeling of mode switching phenomena.The classical bond graph language as well as the switched bond graph language are presented. 3. 3. Biomass gasification in fluidized bed gasifiers : Modeling and simulation

    Author : Guilnaz Mirmoshtaghi; Erik Dahlquist; Jan Brandin; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Using woody biomass as a resource for production of biofuel, heat and power through gasification has been studied for years. In order to reduce the cost of operating and to design the full-scale gasification plant developing a general model to be applicable for different ranges of input data with acceptable level of accuracy, is needed. 4. 4. Track circuits’ robustness : Modeling, measurement and simulation

    Author : Emilio Rodriguez; Ajit Kumar Verma; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Track circuit; Relay; False positive signals; Signalling in railway; Modelling; Simulation; Testing; Robustness; Interoperability; Reliability; Railway Infrastructure; Drift och underhållsteknik; Operation and Maintenance Engineering;

    Abstract : In countries with rough weather conditions, frequent delays cause railway companies to waste time and money. Many of these delays are related to the train detection systems, as the old DC track circuits are still used in some countries, including Sweden, our case study. READ MORE

  5. 5. Understanding Multicore Performance : Efficient Memory System Modeling and Simulation

    Author : Andreas Sandberg; Erik Hagersten; David Black-Schaffer; David A. Wood; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer Architecture; Simulation; Modeling; Sampling; Caches; Memory Systems; gem5; Parallel Simulation; Virtualization; Sampling; Multicore; Datavetenskap; Computer Science;

    Abstract : To increase performance, modern processors employ complex techniques such as out-of-order pipelines and deep cache hierarchies. While the increasing complexity has paid off in performance, it has become harder to accurately predict the effects of hardware/software optimizations in such systems. READ MORE
