  1. 1. Transport and environment incentive policy instruments : effects and interactions

    Author : Xing Liu; Lars Hultkrantz; James Odeck; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Congestion pricing; Equity effects; Modal choice; Social marginal cost; Externalities; Transport taxation; Carbon tax; Carbon leakage; Computable General Equilibrium Model; VTTS; Simultaneous decision model; Random utility model; Logistics cost minimization; Additionality; Klimp; Climate subsidy program; Subsidy; CDM; Business Studies; Företagsekonomi;

    Abstract : This dissertation studies issues related to the evaluation of the effects and interactions of transport and environmental incentive policy instruments. Essay 1: Green cars sterilize congestion charges: a model analysis of the reduced impact of Stockholm road tolls calibrates a modal-choice model with data from the Stockholm road toll and uses it to study the sensitivity of congestion toll effects to some seemly subtle changes in the toll system design and external circumstances. Abstract : This thesis poses the question ‘What is the critique of democracy in Plato’s Republic?’ It is not the first to do so. But contrary to standard readings, this thesis does not assume neither epistemological nor elitist explanations. Rather, it sees the Kallipolis, ‘the beautiful city in words’ as predicated on a particular anthropology. READ MORE

  3. 3. Affordances and Constraints of Intelligent Decision Support for Military Command and Control : Three Case Studies of Support Systems

    Author : Ola Leifler; Henrik Eriksson; Patrick Lambrix; Bartel Van de Walle; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Decision Support; planning; machine learning; information management; Command and Control; Computer science; Datalogi;

    Abstract : Researchers in military command and control (C2) have for several decades sought to help commanders by introducing automated, intelligent decision support systems. These systems are still not widely used, however, and some researchers argue that this may be due to those problems that are inherent in the relationship between the affordances of technology and the requirements by the specific contexts of work in military C2. 4. 4. Demand Flexibility for the Simultaneous Provision of Multiple Services : Tapping the Potential of Controllable Electric Loads for Frequency Reserves and Energy Arbitrage

    Author : Lars Herre; Lennart Söder; Qiuwei Wu; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aggregator; chance constrained optimisation; demand response; de-mand response provider; demand side management; frequency reserves; load control; stochastic optimization; aggregator; riskbegränsad optimering; efterfrågestyrning; leverantör av efterfrågesvar; efterfrågeflexibilitet; frekvensreserver; laststyrning; stokastisk optimering.; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : Power systems with increasing shares of renewable energy sources require sufficient flexibility sources. One source of flexibility for future power systems is constituted by flexible electric loads. The concept of demand response captures the utilization of demand side flexibility to provide services to the power system. READ MORE

  5. 5. Life cycle assessment of bridges, model development and case studies
