  1. 1. Attenuation correction in pulmonary and myocardial single photon emission computed tomography

    Author : Helén Almquist; Lund Klinisk fysiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Klinisk fysiologi; tomography; medical instrumentation; radiology; Clinical physics; downscatter; myocardial perfustion; ventilation-perfusion ratio; radiologi; pulmonary density; pulmonary perfusion; attenuation correction; SPECT; transmission measurement; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Abstract : The objective was to develop and validate methods for single photon emission computed tomography, SPECT, allowing quantitative physiological and diagnostic studies of lung and heart. A method for correction of variable attenuation in SPECT, based on transmission measurements before administration of an isotope to the subject, was developed and evaluated. READ MORE

  2. 2. Bone Regeneration with Cell-free Injectable Scaffolds

    Author : Gry Hulsart Billström; Sune Larsson; Kenneth B Jonsson; Jöns Hilborn; Håkan Engqvist; Olle Svensson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; bone tissue engineering; hydrogel; computed tomography; positron emission tomography; large femoral bone defect; rat model; hydrogel; in vivo; osteogenesis; bone regeneration; 3R; single-photon emission computed tomography; bone morphogenetic protein 2; calcium phosphates; injectable; bisphosphonate;

    Abstract : Bone is a remarkable multifunctional tissue with the ability to regenerate and remodel without generating any scar tissue. However, bone loss due to injury or diseases can be a great challenge and affect the patient significantly. Autologous bone grafting is commonly used throughout the world. READ MORE

  3. 3. Dysfunctional but viable myocardium - ischemic heart disease assessed by magnetic resonance imaging and single photon emission computed tomography

    Author : Martin Ugander; Lund Klinisk fysiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medicinsk instrumentering; tomografi; radiologi; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiology; tomography; Clinical physics; non-invasive imaging; myocardial infarction; viability; Physiology; Fysiologi; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Abstract : The assessment of ischemic heart disease (IHD) often focuses on the detection of dysfunctional but viable myocardium which may improve in function following revascularization. Dysfunctional but viable myocardium is identified by distinct characteristics with regards to function, perfusion and viability. READ MORE

  4. 4. Improvements of SPECT by a new collimator design and simultaneous transmission-emission tomography

    Author : Shahrokh Kimiaei; Marija Ivanovic; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Gamma camera; SPECT; Emission tomography; Transmission tomography; Planar-concave collimators; Spatial resolution; Other physics; Övrig fysik; medicinsk strålningsfysik; Medical Radiation Physics;

    Abstract : SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography) and planar scintigraphy are the most established and world wide-spread nuclear medicine imaging techniques for clinical use today. SPECT is a tomographic technique that allows 3-D visualization of biochemical processes or physiological flow in the human body by external detection of photons from an administered radiopharmaceutical.
