    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Single-crystal superalloy; Crystal plasticity; Fatigue crack initiation; Critical plane model; Theory of critical distance; Rafting; Tension compression asymmetry;

    Abstract : In this dissertation the work done in the projects KME-410/502 will be presented.The overall objective in these projects is to evaluate and develop tools for designingagainst fatigue in single-crystal nickel-base superalloys in gas turbines. READ MORE

  2. 2. Nickel-Based Single-Crystal Superalloys : the crystal orientation influence on high temperature properties

    Author : Mikael Segersäll; Johan Moverare; Kjell Simonsson; Daniel Leidermark; Roger Reed; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Superalloys are a group of materials that are used in high temperature applications, for example gas turbines and aero engines. Gas turbines are most commonly used for power generation, and it is only the very critical components which are exposed to the most severe conditions within the turbine, which are made from superalloy material. Abstract : In this licentiate thesis the work done in the project KME410 will be presented. The overall objective of this project is to evaluate and develop tools for designing against fatigue in single-crystal nickel-base superalloys in gas turbines. READ MORE

  4. 4. Crack growth in single crystal gas turbine blade alloys under service-like conditions

    Author : Frans Palmert; Johan Moverare; David Gustafsson; Mikael Segersäll; Philippa A.S. Reed; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Single crystal superalloy; TMF; Crack growth; Crystallographic crack growth; Aging; Hold time; Creep crack growth;

    Abstract : This work concerns the fatigue crack growth behaviour of nickel base single crystal superalloys. The main industrial application of this class of materials is in gas turbine blades, where the ability to withstand severe mechanical loading in combination with high temperatures is required. 5. 5. On Thermomechanical Fatigue of Single-Crystal Superalloys

    Author : Mikael Segersäll; Johan Moverare; Jonathan Cormier; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Thanks to their excellent mechanical and chemical properties at temperatures up to 1000 °C, nickel-based superalloys are used in critical components in high-temperature applications such as gas turbines and aero engines. One of the most critical components in a gas turbine is the turbine blade, and to improve the creep and fatigue properties of this component, it is sometimes cast in single-crystal form rather than in the more conventional poly-crystalline form.
