  1. 1. The single leg squat in clinical testing : aspects of reliability, validity, and associated factors

    Author : John Ressman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: The Single Leg Squat (SLS) test is a functional test widely used in clinical settings to examine and evaluate rehabilitation goals. Research indicates that the SLS is reliable when the knee relative to the foot is dichotomously assessed. READ MORE

  2. 2. Altered movement patterns and deviating muscular activity in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament injury

    Author : Anna Trulsson; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Movement pattern; Physiotherapy; Motor control; Sensorimotor control; Neuromuscular control; Anterior cruciate ligament; Muscular activity; Motor skills; Single leg squat; Electromyography EMG ; Postural orientation; Assessment; Task performance; Reproducibility of findings; Performance test; Hop test; knee; dynamic joint stability;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to increase the understanding of altered movement patterns in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in order to improve ACL rehabilitation, and to develop an observational instrument termed Test for Substitution Patterns (TSP) for standardized, quantifiable scoring of altered movement patterns in legs and trunk. In all, 142 participants, 93 with ACL-rupture (37 women) and 49 uninjured participants were investigated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Kinetic chain weight training, strength assessment, and functional performance testing: with reference to sports and rehabilitation

    Author : Jesper Augustsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; open kinetic chain; closed kinetic chain; weight training; strength assessment; functional tests; anterior cruciate ligament; reconstruction; fatigue;

    Abstract : The overall purpose of the studies was to obtain knowledge about physical performance in healthy individuals and patients after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Data are presented that concerns closed and open kinetic chain exercise, adaptive response to weight training, the methodology of muscle strength assessment, and the development of a functional testing protocol performed under conditions of fatigue. 4. 4. Is seeing just believing? Measurement properties of visual assessment of Postural Orientation Errors (POEs) in people with anterior cruciate ligament injury

    Author : Jenny Älmqvist Nae; Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; knee injury; Lower extremity; Anterior Cruciate Ligament; orientation spatial; Postural orientation; Performance-based measures; Reproducibility of results; Hop performance; Patient reported outcome measures;

    Abstract : Rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a common knee injury among young physically active populations. The injury results in impaired physical functions, such as joint instability, limitations in daily activities and sport-specific activities, and worse movement quality, e.g., altered postural orientation.
