  1. 1. Technologies for Single Cell Genome Analysis

    Author : Erik Borgström; Afshin Ahmadian; Sten Linnarsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DNA; sequencing; single molecule; single cell; whole genome amplification; exome sequencing; emulsions; barcoding; phasin; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Abstract : During the last decade high throughput DNA sequencing of single cells has evolved from an idea to one of the most high profile fields of research. Much of this development has been possible due to the dramatic reduction in costs for massively parallel sequencing. READ MORE

  2. 2. Spatially resolved and single cell transcriptomics

    Author : Fredrik Salmén; Joakim Lundeberg; Patrik Ståhl; Elaine R. Mardis; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spatial; transcriptomics; single cell; 3D; RNA-sequencing; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Abstract : In recent years, massive parallel sequencing has revolutionized the field of biology and has provided us with a vast number of new discoveries in fields such as neurology, developmental biology and cancer research. A significant area is deciphering gene expression patterns, as well as other aspects of transcriptome information, such as the impact of splice variants and mutations on biological functions and disease development. 3. 3. Single-cell methodologies for ecological and metabolic mapping of mixotrophic microeukaryotes

    Author : Javier Florenza; Stefan Bertilsson; Alexandra Z. Worden; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mixotrophy; single-cell;

    Abstract : Mixotrophy in aquatic protists is pivotal for our understanding of aquatic microbial food web dynamics. This thesis is centered around aquatic unicellular mixotrophs, and comprises three methodological approaches aimed to tackle mixotroph ecology at single-cell resolution: the identification of actively feeding mixotrophs in natural samples, the determination of specific interactions among mixotrophs and bacterial prey, and the profiling of two distinct mixotrophic populations based on the gene expression of their constitutive individuals. 4. 4. Variational methods for phylogeny and single-cell genomics

    Author : Hazal Koptagel; Jens Lagergren; Alexandre Bouchard-Côté; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Variational inference; single-cell DNA sequencing; cell lineage tree; Bayesian phylogenetic tree inference; Variationsinferens; encellig DNA-sekvensering; cellhärkomstträd; Bayesiansk fylogenetisk trädinferens; Varyasyonel çıkarım; tek hücre DNA dizilimi; hücre soy ağacı; Bayesçi filogenetik ağaç çıkarımı; Datalogi; Computer Science;

    Abstract : The investigation of the evolutionary history of organisms, both at the cellular level and at the species level, is a relevant research topic in computational biology. These investigations lead to a deeper understanding of developmental history, cancer progression, the genetic similarity of species, and more. READ MORE
