  1. 11. Development and application of ultra-sensitive fluorescence spectroscopy and microscopy for biomolecular interaction studies

    Author : Lei Xu; Jerker Widengren; Gerhard Schütz; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; single molecule spectroscopy; fluorescence correlation spectroscopy; stimulated emission microscopy; cancer; biomolecular interaction; co-localization; Biological Physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the development of sensitive and high-resolution fluorescence spectroscopic and microscopic techniques and their application to probe biomolecules and their interactions in solution, lipid membrane model systems and in cells. Paper I-IV are largely focused on methodological developments. READ MORE

  2. 12. First As Probe, Then As Function - Fluorescence in Bio-inspired Nanotechnology

    Author : Jonas Hannestad; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; self-assembly; lipid membrane; bio-inspired; FRET; light-harvesting; spectroscopy.; fluorescence; nanotechnology; single molecule fluorescence spectroscopy; DNA;

    Abstract : In this thesis, I demonstrate how fluorescence can be used in the context of bio-inspired nanotechnology, both as an indirect probe and as a function in itself. By combining principles and molecules from three different bio-molecular systems, DNA, bacterial light-harvesting complexes and cell membranes, I have constructed nano- and microscale systems for long-range excitation energy transfer, light-harvesting and reaction control. 3. 13. Raman and Fluorescence Spectroscopy of Single Molecules and Metal Particles

    Author : Jerk Bjerneld; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; laser-induced; single-molecule spectroscopy; surface-enhanced Raman scattering; nanoparticles;

    Abstract : Technological and conceptual advances have led to the realization of single-molecule spectroscopy. This permit detailed investigations of heterogeneous systems in fields ranging from condensed matter physics to biochemistry. It was recently discovered that surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) can be used to study single molecules. READ MORE

  4. 14. Multidimensional Fluorescence Polarization Imaging of Single Light Harvesting Complexes

    Author : Sumera Tubasum; Kemisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Light Harvesting Complexes; Single Molecule Spectroscopy; Polarization Spectroscopy; Exciton Dynamics; Spectral Disorder;

    Abstract : This thesis presents my research journey in the Department of Chemical Physics,Lund University. Multidimensional fluorescence polarization imaging is used to study single LH2s. The method uses linearly polarized excitation light and the emission is detected through a polarizer. READ MORE

  5. 15. Super-resolution Luminescence Micro-Spectroscopy : A nano-scale view of solar cell material photophysics

    Author : Aboma Merdasa; Kemisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; super-resolution microscopy; Single Molecule Spectroscopy; J-aggregates; perovskites; photophysics;

    Abstract : Optical microscopy is a fundamental tool in a range of disciplines encompassed by the physical and biological sciences. At the dawn of this millennium, a break-through was made in optical microscopy where super-resolution methods emerged and declared imaging beyond the optical diffraction limit a possibility. READ MORE
