  1. 1. Microstructure model for Ti-6Al-4V used in simulation of additive manufacturing

    Author : Corinne Charles Murgau; Lars-Erik Lindgren; Niklas Järvstråt; Robert Pederson; Sören Sjöström; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Titanium alloy; Ti-6Al-4V; Welding; Metal deposition; Additive manufacturing; Wire feed; Finite Element Method; Microstructure model; Johnson-Mehl-Avrami- Kolmogorov; Thermally driven; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik; Material Mechanics;

    Abstract : This thesis is devoted to microstructure modelling of Ti-6Al-4V. The microstructure and the mechanical properties of titanium alloys are highly dependent on the temperature history experienced by the material. The developed microstructure model accounts for thermaldriving forces and is applicable for general temperature histories. READ MORE

  2. 2. On the asperity point load mechanism for rolling contact fatigue

    Author : Johan Dahlberg; Bo Alfredsson; Sören Sjöström; KTH; []
    Keywords : Rolling contact fatigue; Spalling; Asperity contact; Point load; Micro-cracks; Traction; Applied slip; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Rolling contact fatigue is a damage process that may arise in mechanical applications with repeated rolling contacts. Some examples are: gears; cams; bearings; rail/wheel contacts. The resulting damage is often visible with the naked eye as millimeter sized surface craters. READ MORE

  3. 3. Modelling and experimental evaluation of non-linear fatigue crack propagation in a ductile superalloy

    Author : Daniel Ewest; Per Almroth; Kjell Simonsson; Björn Sjödin; Daniel Leidermark; Sören Sjöström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Fatigue life evaluation is an important part in the design process of an industrial gas turbine. The fatigue life can be divided into crack initiation and crack propagation, and not to address the crack propagation part usually yields a non-conservative and overcomplicated design. READ MORE

  4. 4. Constitutive and fatigue crack propagation behaviour of Inconel 718

    Author : David Gustafsson; Kjell Simonsson; Johan Moverare; Sjöström Sören; Sten Johansson; Christer Persson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nickel-base superalloys constitutive modelling mean stress relaxation fatigue crack propagation hold times grain boundary embrittlement;

    Abstract : In this licentiate thesis the work done in the TURBO POWER project Influence of high temperature hold times on the fatigue life of nickel-based superalloys will be presented. The overall objective of this project is to develop and evaluate tools for designing against fatigue in gas turbine applications, with special focus on the nickel-based superalloy Inconel 718. 5. 5. High temperature fatigue crack propagation behaviour of Inconel 718

    Author : David Gustafsson; Kjell Simonsson; Johan Moverare; Sören Sjöström; Ulrich Krupp; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The overall objective of this work has been to develop and evaluate tools for designing against fatigue in gas turbine applications, with special focus on the nickel-based superalloy Inconel 718. The fatigue crack propagation behaviour under high temperature hold times has been studied. READ MORE
