  2. 22. Persistent organic pollutants in the atmosphere - spatial and temporal variations

    Author : Cecilia Backe; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tropical and temperate regions; global transport; temperature; latitudinal fractionation; fugacity; soil organic matter; soil-air exchange; washout ratio; rain; precipitation; atmosphere; spatial and temporal variations; DDT; PCB; persistent organic pollutants; polychlorinated biphenyls; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Ecology; Ekologi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : In these thesis I have studied the spatial and temporal variations of PCBs in the atmosphere and in precipitation in southern Sweden. Further, soil-air exchange processes of PCBs were investigated. Finally, the long-range transport of PCBs and DDT was studied in the Baltic Sea region and in a tropical vs. a temporal region. 4. 24. Methods of Measuring Radioactivity in the Environment

    Author : Mats Isaksson; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; radioactivity; soil sampling; depth distribution; nuclear weapons fallout; Chernobyl; sewage sludge; deposition; Ekologi; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Isaksson; Ecology; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Cs-137;

    Abstract : In this thesis a variety of sampling methods have been utilised to assess the amount of deposited activity, mainly of Cs-137, from the Chernobyl accident and from the nuclear weapons tests. Starting with the Chernobyl accident in 1986 sampling of air and rain was used to determine the composition and amount of radioactive debris from this accident, brought to southern Sweden by the weather systems. 5. 25. The Spatial Distribution of Precipitation in Scania, Southern Sweden. Observations, model simulations and statistical downscaling

    Author : Maj-Lena Linderson; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; physical geography; Geologi; fysisk geografi; Geology; statistical downscaling; atmospheric circulation; spatial distribution; precipitation; Scania; Sweden;

    Abstract : This thesis focusses on the spatial distribution of precipitation within Scania and on its relation with large-scale climate. The spatial distribution of Scanian precipitation was analysed using a dense rain-gauge network of daily measurements. READ MORE
