  1. 1. Influence of lifestyle behaviours on bone mineral density among young healthy women: A two-year study. A Tentative Salutary Model

    Author : Carina Elgán; Britt-Marie Landgren; Göran Samsioe; Anna-Karin Dykes; Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; grounded theory; follow-up; Skeleton; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi; multiple triangulation; stress; time spent outdoors; sleep; salutogenic; bone resorption; bone mineral density; Young healthy women; lifestyle; Lifestyle; Nursing; Omvårdnad;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this prospective observational study with a salutogenic approach was to investigate bone mineral density (BMD) and BMD changes in the heel bone, in a group of healthy women, in relation to physiological factors and lifestyle behaviours over a two-year period as well as investigating the women’s view of their lifestyle behaviours. Data were collected in 1999 (T1) and 2001 (T2). READ MORE

  2. 2. Chronic musculoskeletal pain: a multifactorial process

    Author : Stefan Bergman; Reumatologi och molekylär skelettbiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; widespread; SF-36; risk factors; rheumatoid arthritis; pain; musculoskeletal; epidemiology; fibromyalgia; Skeleton; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi;

    Abstract : The aim was to study prevalence, assessment methods, and risk factors of chronic musculoskeletal pain, as well as effects on health status in a general population setting. A postal survey to a representative sample of 3928 subjects aged 20–74 years in 2 municipalities on the west coast of Sweden was followed by clinical examinations of selected subjects, and a three-year follow up survey to 2425 subjects who answered completely to the first. 3. 3. Identification of Arthritis Susceptibility Genes in Mice and Humans

    Author : Emma Ahlqvist; Immunologi; []

    Abstract : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease with a largely unknown aetiology. The risk of developing RA is partly dependent on genetic factors, which has motivated extensive efforts to identify the disease regulating genes as away to understand disease pathogenesis. READ MORE

    Abstract : Clubfoot is a congenital disorder, affecting about one of 1000 children. Treatment consists of initial correction of the deformity, followed by prolonged orthosis treatment to maintain the correction obtained. There are several different treatment options. Outcome studies, using reliable and valid instruments are rare. READ MORE

  5. 5. On the etiology and pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus with special reference to environmental factors

    Author : Anders Bengtsson; Reumatologi och molekylär skelettbiologi; []

    Abstract : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex autoimmune disease in which environmental factors interact with genetic factors in the development of the disease process and evolution of clinical manifestations. In this thesis both exogenous factors and host factors were investigated, as well as important immunopathological aspects including involvement of immune complex (IC), the complement system and interferon-alpha (IFN-α).
