  1. 21. The expanded skin in breast reconstruction : an experimental and clinical study

    Author : Michael Olenius; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Tissue expansion; capsular contraction; rapid and slow expansion; mitotic activity; epidermal thickness; skin thickness; collagen diameter; skin properties; insulin-like growth factorStockholm 1995 ISB;

    Abstract : Tissue expansion has become one of the routine methods in breast reconstruction. It is a safe and easy method, which is well accepted by the patient. Clinical reports are numerous, but morphological changes are still not thoroughly investigated. READ MORE

  2. 22. Computer Assisted Video Microscopy : in Characterization of Capillary Ensembles

    Author : Claes Asker; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : computer assisted video microscopy; capillary loops; capillary ensembles; skin microcirculation; triangulation; nearest neighbour; MEDICINE;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on evaluation and analysis of capillary microcirculatory changes in the skin, that can be improved and extended by computer assisted video microscopy. Capillary microscopy has been used extensively, both in clinical practice and research, to study different phenomena in the microvasculature of the skin, mainly in the nailfold of fingers and toes where a large portion of the capillary loop can be observed. 3. 23. On massive weight loss and body contour

    Author : Jonas Ockell; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Excess skin; överskottshud; obesitas; obesity; bariatric surgery; bariatrisk kirurgi; brösthypertrofi; breast hypertrophy;

    Abstract : Abstract Background/Aims: Bariatric surgery is an effective treatment for severe obesity. However, massive weight loss is associated with adverse effects, such as excess skin. READ MORE

  4. 24. GARD – Genomic Allergen Rapid Detection : From Biomarker Discovery towards a State-of-the-art Testing Platform for Chemical Sensitizers

    Author : Andy Forreryd; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Keywords : In vitro assay; skin sensitization; respiratory sensitization; predictive biomarker signatures; in vitro test; hudsensibilisering; luftvägssensibilisering; biomarkörsignaturer;

    Abstract : Chemical hypersensitivity reactions induced in the skin or in the respiratory tract are important health concerns and develops following repeated exposure to certain chemicals, termed sensitizers. To prevent such hazardous compounds from entering the consumer market, legal frameworks within EU require chemicals to be tested for their capacity to induce hypersensitivity. READ MORE

  5. 25. Computerised Microtomography : Non-invasive imaging and analysis of biological samples, with special reference to monitoring development of osteoporosis in small animals

    Author : Mats Stenström; Gudrun Alm Carlsson; Carl Carlsson; Jim Elliot; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Computed microtomography; CμT; signal-to-noise ratio SNR ; non-invasive monitoring; morphological changes; Gastrectomized Sprague-Dawley; osteoporosis; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The use of Computerised microtomography (CμT) in biomedical research is well established, with most applications developed at synchrotron facilities. The possibility to non-invasively monitor morphological changes in biological samples, makes it an attractive technique in biomedicine. READ MORE
