  1. 1. Design, Synthesis and Characterization of Small Molecule Inhibitors and Small Molecule : Peptide Conjugates as Protein Actors

    Author : Jonas Nilsson; Lars Baltzer; Ingemar Kvarnström; Thomas Olsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Synthetic receptor; Peptide inhibitor conjugate; Peptide protein surface interactions; General Lead Discovery Library; Combinatorial Chemistry; Solid Phase Chemistry; Targeted Library; Thrombin inhibitor; Fluorescence; Surface Plasmon Resonance; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes different aspects of protein interactions. Initially the function of peptides and their conjugates with small molecule inhibitors on the surface of Human Carbonic Anhydrase isoenzyme II (HCAII) is evaluated. READ MORE

  2. 2. Molecular design, synthesis and performance evaluation of phenothiazine-based small molecules for efficient organic solar cells

    Author : Srikanth Revoju; Bertil Eliasson; Haining Tian; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic solar cell; small molecule donors; phenothiazine; power conversion efficiency; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : Photovoltaics offers one of the most promising routes to generate electricity in a clean way. As an emerging technology in photovoltaics, organic solar cells (OSC) have attracted a great deal of attention owing to their potential low-cost, lightweight, flexibility and solution processability. Abstract : This work focuses on the design, synthesis, characterization, and application projections of low-coordinated heavy pnictogen-containing (described by the generic letter E, hence E=C) phosphaalkenes (P=C) and arsaalkenes (As=C), with emphasis on the E=C group motifs. The work aims to understand their functional and modular character, reactivity, and potential applications by stabilizing, isolating, and characterizing these species in low-coordination environments. 4. 4. Chemical attenuation of bacterial virulence : small molecule inhibitors of type III secretion

    Author : Anna Kauppi; Mikael Elofsson; Anders Karlén; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; antibiotic resistance; virulence; type III secretion; T3SS inhibitors; Yop; SMD; QSAR; screening; Yersinia pseudotuberculosis; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Despite the large arsenal of antibiotics available on the market, treatment of bacterial infections becomes more challenging in view of the fact that microbes develop resistance against existing drugs. There is an obvious need for novel drugs acting on both old and new targets in bacteria. READ MORE
