1. Volterra Modeling and Estimation of the Human Smooth Pursuit
Abstract : This thesis treats the mathematical modeling of the human smooth pursuit system using Volterra-Laguerre models. The smooth pursuit system allows for tracking of moving objects. Since it is a complex system including the muscles of the eye, nerves and certain parts of the brain, the system may be impaired if some part is compromised. READ MORE

2. Mathematical modeling of the human smooth pursuit system
Abstract : This licentiate thesis concerns mathematical modeling and identification of the the human smooth pursuit system (SPS) and the application of the models to motor symptom quantification in Parkinson's disease (PD).The SPS is a complex neuromuscular system governing smooth pursuit eye movements (SPEM), and the task is to keep a moving target in the visual field. 3. Visual motor development in full term and preterm infants
Abstract : Smooth tracking and efficient reaching for moving objects require the ability to predict the velocity and trajectory of the object. This skill is important to be able to perceive human action and object motion in the world. This thesis explores early visual motor development in full term and preterm infants. READ MORE

4. When, Where and What : The Development of Perceived Spatio-Temporal Continuity
Abstract : This thesis explored the development of infants’ ability to preserve spatio-temporal continuity of moving objects in situations where they disappeared completely (Study I & II) or partially (Study III) behind other objects (occluders). We recorded infants gaze direction with the help of two different techniques: 1) infants’ gaze shifts in Study I were measured with electro-oculogram (EOG) in combination with a motion analyzing system (Qualisys) that recorded the reflected infrared light from markers placed on the infant’s head and the moving object; 2) in Studies II and III a cornea reflection eye tracker was used (Tobii 1750) . 5. Identification Techniques for Mathematical Modeling of the Human Smooth Pursuit System
Abstract : This thesis proposes nonlinear system identification techniques for the mathematical modeling of the human smooth pursuit system (SPS) with application to motor symptom quantification in Parkinson's disease (PD). The SPS refers to the complex neuromuscular system in humans that governs the smooth pursuit eye movements (SPEM). READ MORE
