1. Frequency Recognition Algorithm for Multiple Exposures : Snapshot imaging using coded light
Abstract : The central challenge tackled in this thesis is the development of an optical imaging approach capable of multidimensional image capture of dynamic samples. Many conventional optical imaging approaches, which can obtain dimensional information such as spectral, polarisation, or volumetric, to name a few, about samples either employ sequential image capture or parallelised detector arrangements. 2. Imaging Living Cells with an X-ray Laser
Abstract : Imaging living cells at a resolution higher than the resolution of optical microscopy is a significant challenge. Fluorescence microscopy can achieve a degree of super-resolution via labeling cellular components with a fluorescent dye. READ MORE

3. Microstructural manipulation by laser irradiation of prepared samples : The ’Snapshot Method’
Abstract : Various metallurgical microstructures and their formation are studied in this thesis by using a laser beam to melt a variety of materials with different chemical compositions over a range of thermal cycles. The laser beam was used conventionally in a narrow gap multi-layer weld, used for welding large depths with filler wire additions, as well as a non-traditional simulated welding approach labelled here as the Snapshot method. 4. Imaging surface plasmon resonance
Abstract : The central theme of this thesis is the use of imaging Surface Plasmon Resonance (iSPR) as a tool in the characterization of surfaces with laterally varying properties. Within the scope of this work, an instrument for iSPR analysis was designed and built. READ MORE

5. Multispectral imaging of hemoglobin oxygen saturation in skin microcirculation
Abstract : The ability to measure microcirculatory parameters such as hemoglobin oxygen saturation is important since it mirrors the microcirculatory state of the body. The microcirculation delivers oxygen and nutrients to the cells of the body and, if impaired, may be a sign of circulatory failure. READ MORE
