  1. 16. Nitrogen dynamics in crop sequences with winter oilseed rape and winter wheat

    University dissertation from ; Dept. of Soil and Environment, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences

    Author : Lena Engström; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet.; [2010]
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : With the aim of improving fertiliser nitrogen (N) strategies and reducing N leaching, seasonal changes in soil N supply in crop sequences with winter wheat after winter oilseed rape were examined through field experiments. Break crop effects on wheat after oilseed rape, compared with after peas and oats, were determined as regards residual N, yield and optimum N rate (Opt-N). READ MORE

  2. 17. The role of subsoil properties for phosphorus leaching in agricultural soils

    University dissertation from ; Department of Soil and Environment, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences

    Author : Helena Andersson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet.; [2016]
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Phosphorus (P) leaching from agricultural land is a large contributor to eutrophication of many surface waters and the Baltic Sea. Better knowledge of P sorption and release in the subsoil could enable the development of effective mitigation strategies for P leaching. READ MORE

  3. 18. Interception and storage of wet deposited radionuclides in crops : field experiments and modelling

    University dissertation from ; Department of Soil and Environment, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences

    Author : Stefan Bengtsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet.; [2013]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The emission of radionuclides into the atmosphere from various sources, such as nuclear power plant accidents and nuclear bomb explosions, can result in the interception and uptake of radionuclides by crops in the agricultural ecosystem. These radionuclides e.g. READ MORE

  4. 19. Sulfur cycling in Swedish arable soils : a chemical perspective

  5. 20. Impacts of pine and eucalyptus plantations on carbon and nutrients stocks and fluxes in miombo forests ecosystems

    University dissertation from ; Department of Ecology, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences

    Author : Benard Guedes; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet.; [2016]
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Knowledge of how commercial pine and eucalyptus plantations affect soil carbon and nutrient status is important in Mozambique, where incentives are available to increase the area of forest plantations and also to conserve mature miombo forests. Tree species growing on similar sites may affect ecosystem carbon differently if they allocate carbon to aboveground and belowground parts at different rates. READ MORE
