  1. 1. On the investigation of chemical parameters reflecting microbial activity linked to nutrient availability in forest soil

    Author : Madelen Olofsson; Dan Bylund; Bengt-Gunnar Jonsson; Bjarne W. Strobel; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Boreal forest; electrospray ionization; fungal biomass; hydrophilic interaction chromatography; hydroxamate siderophores; liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry; mineral amendment; aromatic acids; podzol soil;

    Abstract : As agrarian society developed, the most fertile soils able to sustain the nutritional requirements needed for high crop yield were assigned to farming, while the more penurious soils were left to uphold the forest ecosystems. Some temperate forests are developed on acidic soils considered to be nutrient poor, as much of the inorganic nutrients are entrapped in poorly weatherable soil minerals and not easily accessed by plant roots. 2. 2. Transient Response of Grounding Systems Caused by Lightning: Modelling and Experiments

    Author : Yaqing Liu; Rajeev Thottappillil; Carlo Alberto Nucci; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical engineering; Grounding system; Lightning protection; Electromagnetic Compatibility; Transient analysis; Soil ionization; Transmission line approach; Elektroteknik; Electrical engineering; Elektroteknik;

    Abstract : In order to achieve better lightning protection and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements, the needs for a proper grounding system and the knowledge of its transient behaviour become crucial. The present work is focused towards developing engineering models for transient analysis of grounding system with sufficient accuracy and simplicity for lightning studies. READ MORE

  3. 3. Packed Column Supercritical Fluid Chromatography : Applications in Environmental Chemistry

    Author : Nicole Riddell; Bert van Bavel; Robert McCrindle; Ingrid Ericson Jogsten; Jake Ryan; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Supercritical Fluid Chromatography; Mass Spectrometry; Ionization; POPs; APPI; APCI; chiral; achiral; packed column;

    Abstract : Although gas and liquid chromatography have emerged as dominant separation techniques in environmental analytical chemistry, these methods do not allow for the concurrent analysis of chemically diverse groups of persistent organic pollutants (POPs). There are also a small number of compounds which are not easily amenable to either of these traditional separation techniques. READ MORE

  4. 4. Organic phosphorus speciation in environmental samples : Method development and applications

    Author : Julia V. Paraskova; Per J.R. Sjöberg; Emil Rydin; William T. Cooper; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic phosphorus; DNA; phospholipids; inositol phosphates; sediment; soil; extraction; liquid chromatography LC ; mass spectrometry MS ; Kemi med inriktning mot analytisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Analytical Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the development of new methodology for the identification and quantification of organic phosphorus compounds in environmental samples.Phosphorus is a vital element for primary production and one of the factors contributing to eutrophication. READ MORE

  5. 5. Liquid Chromatography Coupled to Mass Spectrometry : Implementation of Chemometric Optimization and Selected Applications

    Author : My Moberg; Jonas Bergquist; Karin E. Markides; Dan Bylund; Douglas B. Kell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Analytical chemistry; liquid chromatography; mass spectrometry; tandem mass spectrometry; electrospray ionization; inductively coupled plasma; chemometrics; optimization; multivariate data analysis; design of experiments; response surface model; siderophore; azathioprine; peptide; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Liquid chromatography (LC) coupled to mass spectrometry (MS) offers highly selective and sensitive analysis of a wide variety of compounds. However, the use of hyphenated experimental set-ups implies that many parameters may have an effect on the studied response. READ MORE
