  1. 16. From Light to Dark : Electrical Phenomena in Cu(In,Ga)Se2 Solar Cells

    Author : Piotr Szaniawski; Marika Edoff; Uwe Zimmermann; Jörgen Olsson; Thomas Walter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Solar cells; Photovoltaics; Cu InGa Se2; CIGS; Electrical characterization; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektronik; Engineering Science with specialization in Electronics;

    Abstract : In Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) solar cells the CIGS layer serves as the light absorber, growing naturally p-type. Together with an n-type buffer layer they form a p-n heterojunction. Typically, CdS is used as a buffer, although other, less toxic materials are investigated as alternatives. READ MORE

  2. 17. On Generation and Recombination in Cu(In,Ga)Se2 Thin-Film Solar Cells

    Author : Jonas Malmström; Lars Stolt; Uwe Rau; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronics; solar energy conversion; solar cells; Cu In; Ga Se2; device modelling; optical properties; electron-hole generation; light trapping; electron-hole recombination; Elektronik; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : The solar cell technology based on Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) thin-films provides a promising route to cost competitive solar electricity. The standard device structure is ZnO:Al/ZnO/CdS/CIGS/Mo films on a glass substrate, where the first three layers are n-type semiconductors with wide bandgaps, forming a pn-junction with the p-type CIGS absorber layer; the Mo layer serves as a back contact. 3. 18. Modelling and Degradation Characteristics of Thin-film CIGS Solar Cells

    Author : Ulf Malm; Marika Edoff; Lars Stolt; James R. Sites; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; solar cells; thin-film; chalcogenide; stability; characterization; modelling; simulations; finite element method; CIGS; photovoltaic module; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : Thin-film solar cells based around the absorber material CuIn1-xGaxSe2 (CIGS) are studied with respect to their stability characteristics, and different ways of modelling device operation are investigated. Two ways of modelling spatial inhomogeneities are detailed, one fully numerical and one hybrid model. READ MORE

  4. 19. The Study of II-VI Semiconductor Nanocrystals Sensitized Solar Cells

    Author : Chunze Yuan; Ying Fu; Lars Kloo; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum dots; quantum rods; nanocrytals; solar cells; colloidal; type-II; electron injection; organic electrolyte.;

    Abstract : Semiconductor nanocrystals, also referred to as quantum dots (QDs), have been the focus of great scientific and technological efforts in solar cells, as a result of their advantages of low-cost, photostability, high molar extinction coefficients and size-dependent optical properties. Due to the multi-electron generation effect, the theoretically maximum efficiency of quantum dots-sensitized solar cells (QDSCs) is as high as 44%, which is much higher than that of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). Author : Wei Zhang; Lars Kloo; Neil Robertson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; perovskite solar cell; photovoltaic device; lead-free light absorbers; hole-transport materials; coordination complexes; p-type dopants; organic salts; surface passivation.; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Energy plays a significant role in our daily lives, but most energy provided by fossil fuels causes serious environmental problems including air pollution, global warming, and ecological damage. In addition, it has been estimated that all of our fossil fuels will run out in 2088 and thus it is highly important to study and apply renewable energy sources. READ MORE
