  1. 6. Nanoplasmonics for solar cells

    Author : Viktoria Gusak; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; enhanced near-field; adsorption; titanium dioxide; Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance; amorphous hydrogenated Silicon; diffusion; Langmuir kinetics; Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell; plasmonic nanoparticle; mesoporous material; diffusion-front model;

    Abstract : The main source of our energy system, the fossil fuels, will eventually be depleted and also pose environmental and climate hazards. There is thus a need for alternative, renewable energy sources. Solar (photovoltaic) cells will play an important role as one of them. READ MORE

  2. 7. Development of Nanoparticle Sensitized Solar Cells

    Author : Chunze Yuan; Hans Ågren; Anders Hagfeldt; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum dots; quantum rods; nanoparticles; solar cells; colloidal; type-II; electron extraction; alloy; organic electrolyte; energy relay; upconversion.;

    Abstract : In this thesis, I have been working with the development of nanoparticle sensitized solar cells. In the subarea of quantum dot sensitized solar cells (QDSCs), I have investigated type-II quantum dots (QDs), quantum rods (QRs) and alloy QDs, and developed novel redox couples as electrolytes. 3. 8. Interactions in Dye-sensitized Solar Cells

    Author : Helena Greijer Agrell; Anders Hagfeldt; Gerrit Boschloo; Laurence Peter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; solar cells; photovoltaics; dye-sensitized; mesoporous; nanostructured; Raman scattering; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : The interactions between the molecular constituents in dye-sensitized solar cells were studied with UV-VIS and IR spectroscopy, Raman scattering, conductivity and electron accumulation measurements.From stability studies of the dye, bis(tetrabutylammonium)cis-bis(thiocyanato) bis(2,2’-bipyridine-4-carboxylic acid, 4’-carboxylate) ruthenium(II), in the complete solar cell, the thiocyanate ion ligand was found to be lost from the dye. Abstract : Global warming is a potential threat to life on earth and to human society. It is by much evidence linked to the extensive use of fossil fuels in our present energy system. Replacing the fossil fuels by alternative sources of energy poses a tremendous challenge for mankind, but is not at all undoable. READ MORE
