  1. 1. Solar Thermal Collectors at High Latitudes : Design and performance of non-tracking concentrators

    Author : Monika Adsten; Manuel Collares-Pereira; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Solar thermal collectors; concentrators; CPC; high latitudes; Materialvetenskap; Solfångare; koncentratorer; höga latituder; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Solid State Physics; fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Abstract : Solar thermal collectors at high latitudes have been studied, with emphasis on concentrating collectors. A novel design of concentrating collector, the Maximum Reflector Collector (MaReCo), especially designed for high latitudes, has been investigated optically and thermally. READ MORE

  2. 2. Reflector Optimization for Low Concentration Photovoltaic-Thermal Solar Collectors

    Author : Diogo Cabral; Hans Wigö; Björn O. Karlsson; Maria João Carvalho; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Photovoltaic-thermal collector; experimental assessment; collector performance assessment; optical efficiency; concentrating PVT solar collector; ray tracing; Fotovoltaisk-termisk kollektor; experimentell utvärdering; prestandautvärdering; optisk effektivitet; koncentrerande PVT-solfångare; strålgångsanalys;

    Abstract : The alarming new global warming and increasing awareness related to climate change (mainly due to the high emissions of carbon dioxide) in recent decades linked all nations into a common cause, which requires ambitious efforts to combat climate change by adapting energy systems to its effects.The knowledge gain presented in this dissertation establishes the foundations for the development of a more efficient concentrating photovoltaic-thermal (PVT) solar collector. 3. 3. Gas-filled, flat plate solar collectors

    Author : Johan Vestlund; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : Solar collectors; Modelling; Mechanical stresses; Heated cavity; collector material; Högeffektiva solfångare för svensk produktion;

    Abstract : This work treats the thermal and mechanical performances of gas-filled, flat plate solar collectors in order to achieve a better performance than that of air filled collectors. The gases examined are argon, krypton and xenon which all have lower thermal conductivity than air. The absorber is formed as a tray connected to the glass. READ MORE

  4. 4. Calculation and Measurement Methods for the Performance of Solar Collectors. Models of Flat Plate Collectors, Transparent Insulation and Efficiency Factors

    Author : Bengt Hellström; Avdelningen för Energi och byggnadsdesign; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transparent insulation; Test method; Calculation method; Concentrating collector; Efficiency factor; Fin efficiency; Flat plate collector; Heat conductivity; Honeycomb; Measurement method; Performance; Solar transmittance; Solar collector; Collector model; Energy research; Energiforskning;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with models of flat plate collectors, transparent insulation and efficiency factors. An equation for the energy output from a glazed flat plate collector is derived by modelling the collector efficiency factor, F´ as the sum of a constant and a temperature dependent part. READ MORE
