1. Polyelectrolyte complexes of bottle brush copolymers : Solution and adsorption properties
Abstract : The aim of this thesis work was to systematically investigate the physico-chemical properties of polyelectrolyte complexes (PECs) formed by bottle brush and linear polyelectrolytes in solution and at solid / liquid interfaces. Electrostatic self-assembly of oppositely charged macromolecules in aqueous solution is a versatile strategy to construction of functional nanostructures with easily controlled properties. READ MORE

2. Poly(Ethylene Oxide) Based Bottle-Brush Polymers and their Interaction with the Anionic Surfactant Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate : Solution and Interfacial Properties
Abstract : The aim of this thesis work is to study the physico-chemical properties of poly(ethylene oxide), PEO, based brush polymers both in solution and at solid/aqueous interfaces. The importance of studying the surface properties of brush polymers can be related to a broad spectrum of interfacial-related applications such as colloidal stability, lubrication, detergency, protein repellency to name a few. 3. Unsaturated Fatty Acids in Alkane Solution : Adsorption and Tribological Properties
Abstract : Fatty acids and blends of fatty acids are used as friction modifiers and anti-wear additives in diesel fuels. A large part of some fatty acid blends are unsaturated fatty acids. Even though fatty acids have been thoroughly investigated, the adsorption and tribological behaviour of unsaturated fatty acids are no fully understood. READ MORE

4. Carbon Nanotube Polymer Composites: Mechanical, Electrical and Photorefractive Properties
Abstract : Incorporation of carbon nanotubes (CNT) into polymers is attractive due to the generally good processability of polymers and unprecedented properties of nanotubes. In this work, preparation and matrix known earlier but not employed so-far for nanocomposites are studied towards enhanced mechanical and electrical performances. READ MORE

5. Materials prepared using graphite oxides : properties and applications
Abstract : Graphite oxides are hydrophilic materials, which have attracted a lot of attention due to unique properties and possible applications. The current thesis includes studies of fundamental properties and applications of graphite oxides as well as materials prepared from graphite oxides such as graphene oxide membranes, defect-rich graphite oxide, reduced graphene oxide and activated reduced graphene oxide.
