  1. 1. Solution-Chemical Synthesis of Cobalt and Iron:Zinc Oxide Nanocomposite Films

    Author : Ulrika Lagerqvist; Annika Pohl; Peter Svedlindh; Mikael Ottosson; Theodor Schneller; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fe:Zn oxide; Co-CoO; Solution-chemical synthesis; Heat treatment parameters; Nanocomposite; Film; Multilayer; Phase ratio; Phase distribution; Exchange bias; Magnetism; Photocatalysis; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : The potentially most important challenges today are related to energy and the environment. New materials and methods are needed in order to, in a sustainable way, convert and store energy, reduce pollution, and clean the air and water from contaminations. READ MORE

  2. 2. Synthesis, Characterization, and Evaluation of Ag-based Electrical Contact Materials

    Author : Fang Mao; Ulf Jansson; Mikael Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; electrical contact; bulk; coating; Ag-based alloys; Ag-based delafossite; AgI; graphene; graphene oxide; combinatorial material science; dc magnetron sputtering; friction; wear; hardness; contact resistance;

    Abstract : Ag is a widely used electrical contact material due to its excellent electrical properties. The problems with Ag are that it is soft and has poor tribological properties (high friction and wear in Ag/Ag sliding contacts). READ MORE

  3. 3. Thermodynamic modelling of aqueous solutions and applications in some functional materials synthesis

    Author : Mingsheng Wang; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Modern advances in science and technology require thedevelopment of functional materials with improved performance.Such engineered materials often have a very complex compositionand specific microstructures. These factors impose a seriouschallenge for the synthesis and processing of advancedfunctional materials. READ MORE

  4. 4. Carbothermal synthesis of nano-structured metal, carbides and nitrides, using solution processed precursors; from precursor to product

    Author : Sarmad Naim Katea; Gunnar Westin; Hilmar Vidarsson; Sanjay Mathur; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Solution-based chemical processing; sol-gel; ceramic powders; transition metal carbides and nitrides; sintering; nickel binder; mechanical properties; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes how solution chemical based carbothermal syntheses can be used for the synthesis of nanostructured zirconium carbide and nitride nanophase powders as well as a nickel-metal coating on NbC for use as a sintering agent. The focus is on the development of novel synthesis routes using atomic or small nanoscale level mixing of the metal oxide and carbon source in the starting precursors, enabling the use of lower synthesis temperatures and non-agglomerated nanosized powders.
