  1. 1. Functional analysis of the -1087 single nucleotide polymorphism in the IL-10 promoter region

    Author : Lena Larsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IL-10; B cells; Sp1; transcription factors; gene expression;

    Abstract : Interleukin (IL) 10 is recognized as a pro-inflammatory cytokine that promotes B cell proliferation. The objectives of the present series of studies were to analyze (i) differences in transcription factor binding to the -1087 IL-10 gene polymorphism in B cells, (ii) the influence of the A to G nucleotide transition on IL-10 and Sp1 gene expression in B cells, (iii) differences in Sp1 expression in periodontitis lesions from GG and AA genotype subjects and (iv) epigenetic modifications around the -1087 site and their influence on IL-10 gene expression. 2. 2. Transcriptional Regulation of the Platelet-Derived Growth Factor beta-receptor

    Author : Anders Hackzell; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : PDGF; cell cycle; p73; p53; SV40; NF-Y; Sp1; Myc;

    Abstract : The Platelet Derived-Growth Factor (PDGF) receptors and ligands are expressed in cells of predominantly mesenchymal origin. Binding of the ligands to the receptors stimulates cell proliferation and other cellular responses such as differentiation and cell movement. READ MORE

  3. 3. Regulation of the platelet-derived growth factor β-receptor

    Author : Catrin Molander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PDGF; inflammation; TNF-a; tyrosine kinase; medulloblastoma; Myc; NF-Y; Sp1;

    Abstract : Growth factors are important signalling molecules, regulating cell growth, as well as cell movement, differentiation and apoptosis. They bind to specific receptors on the cell surface causing activation of the receptors. Activated receptors then attract adaptor molecules that brings the signal further into the cell. READ MORE

  4. 4. On the Tissue-type Plasminogen Activator (t-PA) -7,351C>T Enhancer Polymorphism. Importance for endothelial t-PA gene expression and arterial thrombotic disease

    Author : Anna Tjärnlund-Wolf; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : tissue-type plasminogen activator; plasminogen activator inhibitor type-1; polymorphism; endothelium; Sp1; gene expression; myocardial infarction; ischemic stroke;

    Abstract : Local endothelial release of tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) is an important thromboprotective mechanism. Earlier work by our group has identified a common single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) at the t-PA locus (-7,351C>T), located within a GC-box in the retinoic acid (RA) and steroid hormone responsive t-PA enhancer. 5. 5. Genetic variation at the human tissue-type plasminogen activator locus

    Author : Per Ladenvall; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tissue-type plasminogen activator; single-nucleotide polymorphism; vascular release; myocardial infarction; enhancer; Sp1.;

    Abstract : Tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) is the key initiator of intravascular fibrinolysis. Family studies suggest that tPA release is regulated by hereditary factors. READ MORE
