1. Spectroelectrochemistry of Redox Enzymes
Abstract : A low volume and long optical path spectroelectrochemical cell was constructed and tested in a number of applications such as detection of direct electron transfer (DET) between redox enzymes and gold electrodes, determination of the formal potentials of redox centres in proteins and enzymes, as well as mechanistic studies of heterogeneous and intermolecular electron transfer of copper oxidases and succinate:quinine oxidoreductase (Complex II). The existence of DET between enzymes and electrodes was demonstrated for theophylline oxidase, cytochrome P450 cam, laccase, bilirubin oxidase, sulphite oxidase and Complex II. READ MORE

2. Development of Second and Third Generation Bioelectronics
Abstract : The field of research dealing with the integration of biomolecules with electronic elements to form functional devices is called ‘‘bioelectronics’’. Bioelectronics based on mediated electron transfer (MET) between the biological element and the electrodes are designated as “second generation” while the one based on direct electron transfer (DET) is specified as “third generation”. 3. Dyes and their adsorption onto nanocrystalline TiO2 electrodes : Synthesis, characterisation and applications
Abstract : The syntheses of two type of dyes (phthalocyanine and ruthenium tris-bipyridyl) are presented here. Their characterisation involves the use of cyclic voltammetry, NMR- and UV-visible spectroscopy. Once adsorbed on nanocrystalline TiO2 electrodes, their electrochemical, spectroelectrochemical and photoelectrochemical properties were investigated. READ MORE

4. Spectroelectrochemistry with Ultrathin lon-Selective Membranes
Abstract : Rapid and decentralized chemical sensing strategies are highly demanded in contemporary society to monitor ongoing processes relevant to the environment, food analysis, healthcare, sports performance, etc. In this context, ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) based on polymeric membranes have emerged as a promising analytical technique owing to their features of low cost, portability, versatility, and energy efficiency.
