  1. 1. Cohesive and Spectroscopic properties of the Lanthanides within the Hubbard I Approximation

    University dissertation from Uppsala universitet

    Author : Inka Laura Marie Locht; Igor Di Marco; Olle Eriksson; Annalisa Fasolino; Mikhail I. Katsnelson; Tim Wehling; [2015]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lantanides; rare earths; cohesive properties; volume; bulk modulus; magnetism; magnetic properties; photoemission spectroscopy; XPS; BIS; Hubbard I Approximation; DMFT; DFT; RSPt; Full Potential Linear Muffin-tin orbitals; 4f electrons; localization; bonding; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : We describe the rare-earth elements using the Hubbard I approximation. We show that the theory reproduces the cohesive properties, like the volume and bulk modulus, and we find an excellent agreement between theory and experiment for the (inverse) photo emission spectra of the valence band. 3. 3. Solar Type Stars as Calibrators A Photometric and Spectroscopic Study on the Atmospheric Properties of Late-type Stars

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Anna Önehag; Ulrike Heiter; Andreas Korn; Bengt Gustafsson; Frank Grundahl; [2011]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stars: atmospheres; stars: late-type; techniques: photometric; stars: abundances; techniques: spectroscopic; Astronomy; Astronomi;

    Abstract : Detailed knowledge of solar-type stars is essential in the understanding of the evolutionary past, presence and future of the Sun as well as the formation of its planetary system. Moreover, solar-type stars are of key significance for the study of the evolution of the Galaxy. The ages of solar-type stars map the full galactic evolution. READ MORE

  4. 4. Lanthanide Metal-Organic Frameworks and Hierarchical Porous Zeolitic Imidazolate Frameworks Synthesis, Properties, and Applications

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry, Stockholm University

    Author : Hani Nasser Abdelhamid; Xiaodong Zou; Belén Martín-Matute; Banglin Chen; [2017]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metal-organic frameworks; Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks; Lanthanide MOFs; Hierarchical porous ZIFs; oorganisk kemi; Inorganic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the synthesis, properties, and applications of two important classes of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs); lanthanide MOFs and hierarchical porous zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs). The materials have been characterized using a wide range of techniques including diffraction, imaging, various spectroscopic techniques, gas sorption, dynamical light scattering (DLS) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).
